Dem Talking Point: 'Damage Control" Say it over and over and over
DAMAGE CONTROL

Everything you're hearing from the administration, Mr. and Mrs. America, is nothing but DAMAGE CONTROL.

Everything said by YOUR President, and those close to him, is nothing but DAMAGE CONTROL.

DAMAGE CONTROL, Mr. and Mrs. America is what is called for when DAMAGE has been done.

And the DAMAGE being CONTROLLED, Mr. and Mrs. America, is the DAMAGE this government - this REPUBLICAN government - has done to itself in the court of public opinion.

The only DAMAGE CONTROL they're doing is for their own personal benefit.

DAMAGE CONTROL

2. Many people on the DU resent the use of GOP tools of manipulation
and adolescent behaviour being aped. We don't believe in "talking points". Since speaking the truth is without a doubt easier and requires less in the way of "fax trees" or "talking points" 1) we don't need to lie or spin 2) we have nothing to learn from the debasement GOP has brought to the discussion of anything.

3. Thanks for the lesson in ethics
Now, that aside, what is wrong or unfair or erroneous or untru in the term 'DAMAGE CONTROL'? Is that not what we're seeing and hearing?

Would you have us sit quietly?

4. Saying they're doing political "damage control" is lying?
I don't see that as a lie or spin.

8. We can talk about "damage control" without first debasing ourselves
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 11:50 PM by applegrove
by calling it "talking points".

It is damage control. You speak loud about it - like Jon Stewart did. Like his show did. We are speaking truth to power. That was my only point. We don't have to qualify the truth with by framing it all in 'political jargon'.

A statement is a statement. A question is a question. Issues are issues. Asking the question or making the statement again and again is to get answers. It isn't a political "trick". We need answers. We need the truth to win out on this one.

9. There is nothing bad about a coordinated attack.
If we could all agree to just keep hammering until the nail is pounded into submission!

I am so disgusted with all those who tell us to "sit down and shut up" and "now is not the proper time"!

I will forever rember their names.

12. Oh - I'm not in any way saying "sit down & shut up". I am saying don't
use their language in qualifications of the points we make. I simply think we have nothing to learn from them.

Adults fight with the truth. That is all we need.

10. Wrong- we would only be telling the 100% truth- that is the difference...
...we dont have to lie or act like Karl Rove- who is in full Damage Control mode instead of protecting America, by the way.

6. If only they had tried exercising this much "damage control" years ago,
the levees might never have broken.

Definitely. Excellent point.

we can use talking points, too.
