Dear Rove: Sorry, honey, but it's too late for your little PR push.
I know you're all about building impressions. I don't care how many photos Bush poses for tomorrow, the impression has been set: the feds didn't do their job.

Maybe you can separate Bush from the federal government. Play good cop-bad cop. Whatever. Either way, the way this will pan out is that Bush's failed leadership led to the near genocide we witnessed this week.

Rove, it's over. Try as you may, it ain't going to work.

Love (much love, Shnooky-lums)

Writer.

3. I'm a betting woman. Karl is going to fail.
When those body bags start rolling in, the immediate shock starts dying down and attention starts switching back to Iraq in bits, many citizens will start drawing those parallels.

Further, the local news (WWL) just did a man-on-street interview with a local who said complaints of the slow federal response was fairly "consensus."

REALITY has framed the debate. The word "photo op" has been tossed about.

Karl failed.

4. They'll win by sheer quantity of brainwashing.
How many of you remember the f*ups from 911? You still think 'he found his voice" then, right?

5. I believe we're dealing with a different situation.
We're seeing examples of civic journalism - especially this week.

And I believe that Bush was damaged goods going into this. The idea was to IMPROVE his image based on his response to this disaster.

I don't think Rove can do much to salvage Bush at this time. The impression has been set.

6. There is no amount of PR that can cover for this
Every single one of those thousands of preventable deaths will have an uncontrollable ripple effect. All of those people have relatives and loved ones who live in other states who have been appalled and furious at the response. Citizens of other countries have been affected. Everyone who has turned on a TV set has been affected unless they have no head or heart. The media has seen it and can't deny it. There is a documented record of this atrocity. They literally will have nowhere to run. This event is bigger than PR or SPIN. The grassroots anger will drive these monsters out - as it should. Apologists 2 months from now will sound like former members of Saddam's Cabinet.
