Rachel Maddow said on AAR that Bush took the time out from his
busy schedule, before Congress got back in session, to make a recess appointment.

Did anybody hear this? (Aside from Rachel saying it, I mean . . .)

Covers **'s ass in ElBusto and Harkin deals (which the SEC said were still open cases, now they'll be closed I'll bet)

WASHINGTON Sep 1, 2005 — President Bush has used a constitutional provision to bypass the Senate and fill a top Justice Department slot with an official whose nomination stalled over tactics at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, naval facility.

Bush used a "recess appointment" Wednesday to name Alice S. Fisher to lead the agency's criminal division. Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., had blocked the nomination because he wants to talk to an agent who named Fisher in an e-mail about allegedly abusive interrogations at the U.S. military prison camp at Guantanamo.

5. Ugly, indeed.
And yet another BFEE member who has a faulty memory. Just can't recall any meetings about torture.

4. He did this Wednesday, before he had any time for the hurricane survivors
What a piece of work!

Doesn't have time to convene Congress for relief efforts, but Bush can make recess appointments and Condi can go shopping and to a Broadway show....
