Cindy Sheehan on TotN with Neal Cohen (NPR)
Neal is arguing that Casey made the choice. :puke: Now on to Bush* and previous meeting.

Cindy said I've talked about these things several times would you care to talk about the future?

Then she told Neal that she had 2 minutes. Neal was flummoxed. "I thought we had longer." Hilarious.

She handled him. :toast:

1. She handles the media expertly.
She's not intimidated and she's a little reserved with them because they were complicit in advancing the war.

I love her style.

4. She just handled Neal
When it was apparent that Neal was only going to rehash old rumor and innuendo and not allow her to talk about what she was attempting to accomplish with Bush* she got out of the interview. Neal was incredibly complicit with promoting the war effort and I am sure she was prepared for him to have not done his homework.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

13. my letter to the NPR ombudsman
When Neal Conan got the chance to interview Cindy Sheehan
he could have at least tried to come up with an original question.
If I wanted to hear right wing talking points I could just listen
to Rush Limbaugh.

8. I'm not so sure I would call him a RW Shill, I think he's just Lazy
and way to passive when it comes to almost ALL of his guests.

I think he replaced the last host who had been judged a bit too aggressive.

Or he could be taking kick-backs, I don't really know, but I do listen (but don't always agree with) the TOTN show.

14. lazy might be it
and not really intellectually curious. He'd really rather be a minor league baseball announcer. And, I would rather he were, too.

6. Cindy - I never claimed I spoke for 100% of military families -
I have to go now, thankyou.

Conan - we had arranged to speak to her for the whole segment apparently plans change ...

Now he's talking to the counter-encampment father, Lewis's father.

He starts by saying his son was raised in a Christian environment, the dad was a single father. ...

Going to fight terrorism, which was brought to this country. We can't sit around and wait for another 3000 -

He says he's speaking out against Cindy, who has the right to speak out, says he checked out the Gold Star families site, got her cel phone number and called her.

He asked her to explain her motives and what she hoped to gain - suddenly she had a hostile voice, started tapping on the phone saying 'hello? hello?' and and hung up.

He called back and she never picked up so heleft a message saying she was rude and un-American to treat him that way. He knows 'it was not true' she lost the signal cuz she was enroute to Dallas - Conan says, that can happen, bad signals. The father doesn't buy it - casts Cindy in a bad light.

7. Yeah, and later the father says Cindy has aligned herself
with all the perverted causes of the left. He came off as an extremist hack and I think most folks can figure out why she no longer needed to communicate with him.

9. yes - I heard him say 'she is aligned with all the perverted causes
we have heard of in church' (or words close to those) - he is disgusting and it's embarrassing to hear him on NPR, a station I once but no longer revere.

10. I was driving at the time when that jerk was on
Edited on Mon Aug-29-05 02:24 PM by Godlesscommieprevert
I would have called otherwise and told them I resent being called a pervert just because I've opposed this Halliburton war from day 1, and I have 2 sons who served as Marines - one of them in the campaigns against Afghanistan and Iraq.

16. my days as a loyal NPR listener ended many months ago after hearing
endless White House talking points blather and lying go unanswered, especially on Talk of the Nation.

I just got sick and tired of witnessing NPR give itself over to the right wing.

12. Somehow all the calls were from war supporters. Except one wishy
washy woman who was kind of straddling the issue.

I have been fairly disgusted with NPR and have stopped supporting them with my $$$. They no longer speak with any clear objectivity or moral authority.

They will be getting enough $$$ from the right wing lobby groups and I will turn off my radio.
