The League's Extraordinary Gentleman -John Kerry
<The League's Extraordinary Gentleman
League of Conservation Voters Endorses Kerry

The League of Conservation Voters has officially endorsed John Kerry for president, marking the first time in the organization's history that it has backed a candidate prior to the first primaries. Kerry, four-term Democratic senator from Massachusetts, has the best environmental voting record of the Democratic candidates, with an LCV score of 96 percent (Lieberman, whose supporters are reportedly frustrated with the decision, comes in second at 93 percent). LCV's board of directors has made unseating Bush a priority, and expressed hope that their early endorsement would raise the profile of environmental issues in the coming race. Kerry seems amenable to their plans: "I intend to put the environment front and center in this race because it is squarely in the center of our lives," he said at an LCV event in New Hampshire.

2. great record
kerry's record on the issue goes outside of just the good voting record in the senate. it's his plans for the country which are just as great if not better.

10. Kerry's record against the Republicans
Kerry voted for the Patriot Act, the No Child Left Behind Act and the Iraq War. He did not vote against the Medicare reform legislation or the omnibus spending bill which eliminated overtime pay for some workers. Kerry has even opposed increasing the minimum wage.

When the Republicans took over Congress in 1994, Kerry said that he was "delighted with seeing an institutional shake-up because I think we need one."

The Democratic party needs effective leadership in opposing the right-wing agenda. The last thing we need is someone with a record of abjectly appeasing the Republicans.

The supporters of non congressional candiates unfortunely can easily attack this but I do know for one that many of their endorsers voted for the Patriot Act and NCLB and IWR. I am not gonna attack those congress people on that though.
