Hackett's performance: does it come down to charm?
Paul Hackett is a better looking and more charming candidate than Jean Schmidt, that much can be gathered from a cursory glance. Hackett's Iraq war veteran angle reinforced this straightforward "quiet man of values" charm. I am wondering if Hackett's good performance comes down to this alone, or if there is a broader political significance.

I am just asking, and welcome more insightful comments.

1. A little of both, I think.

2. It is broader, I have absolutely no idea what he looks like.
I have only read his words.

3. They showed an R-voter on the news this morning (on CNN)
...Who said he has always voted for Republicans -- ALWAYS --- but that Major Hackett had shown a much better grasp than Schmidt when it came to veteran's benefits and the war in Iraq. He also commented that in the debates, Hackett seemed like the one more likely to do better with local budget issues.

That guy said he'd be heading to the polls to vote for a Democrat for the first time ever.

Looking at the final tally, it seems a LOT of Republicans chose Mjr. Paul Hackett. Too bad it wasn't enough for him to hold the lead he had midway through the race
