URGENT-- DU should concentrate on the Ohio Hackett race right NOW!
The election is next Tuesday. The Democratic candidate, first Iraq War Vet running for office, can win....but we need to do our part.

Democrats need a win. With the Patriot Act, CAFTA, the Energy Bill and Roberts for the SCOTUS, we really, really need a win on Tuesday! Bush is unpopular and still getting too many of his fucking programs through. This is bad for America. Pretty soon, the damage will be impossible to repair.

Soooooo this is a National Race....because of the sad state of our affairs...and getting worse by the minute.

If a brand spanking new Iraq Veteran can't win over Republicans....and he's, like...perfect....than this Democratic Party is in deep, deep shit. The kind that we won't be able to climb out of.

We are the ones that have to make the difference.....cause this small "special" election is about more than what some of us kinda think it is.

We talk about Grassroots...but what are we gonna do about it?

Ain't shit else happening this weekend and the two days after it....

Skinner should organize a DU Activist action alert on this one.

We can write to the Newspapers in his area.....and we can also write to the National Media. This election should be bigger than the Missing Girl in Aruba story. Because the guy is a VETERAN OF BUSH'S WAR....AND YET HE'S A DEMOCRAT.

ARE YOU IN?

We can talk about everything else later.

Media and Congress directory with a map.....which will allow you to list the media in that particular Ohio area.

1. I read on Kos that Hackett is ahead within MOE
Someone mentioned on Kos that there is a poll showing Hackett ahead.

Only 1-2% but this is the first poll to show him ahead. Sadly I could not find a link to this poll. Anyone knows details about it? Is it true?

11. Good to hear....as I did not know that....
Means he closed a big gap in the last couple of days. Guess that getting the free publicity that he has gotten has helped!

This is great news! Thanks!

EVERYBODY, HEAR THAT? DONATE FOR A VICTORY THAT MEANS MORE THAN JUST THE 2ND CONGRESSIONAL DISCTRICT.

Gotta "eat the elephant, one bite at a time"!

2. I will revisit this tomorrow after I've had some sleep...
But for now I have some bad news and some good news...

The Bad news is that one cannot 'win over' most of these new 'Republicans' because they have the very limited perception of their poitical party as though it were a sports team. They will 'root' against anything that does not bear their jersey with the team colors displayed prominently for them to see.
Half the country has a 'sports fan' mentality when it comes to politics and will not recognize a real hero even if he/she is fighting for them but 'on the other team'.
I've dealt with this particular mindset on many occasions.

The good news...

I just saved a bundle on car insurance by switching to 'GAWD' for my coverage.

Sorry- it's late.

4. That's actually very well put, Doc!
I'm with you, and I'm down in these red parts of the OH-2. It's a tough one, but we're slogging it out, and you just never know.

In a district as conservative and gerrymandered as this one, if we even get close it's a moral victory. A bittersweet one, of course. Hackett should stick around and give it another go, at the very least.

Visit the DU Ohio forum for the latest on the Hackett race, and give give GIVE to Paul!

20. I agree BUT they may not turn out IF they are disgusted about Coingate...
if they assume that the GOP candidate is a sure win, or if they are pissed off about CAFTA.

Schmidt was on Hardball and she spun more than Karen Hughes in toe shoes. Unlovely and Paul is very attractive,

BUT WHO IS MINDING THE VOTE? Who is minding the polls? Who has a plan should a recount be needed?

15. Good question, just thinking the same thing myself.
Who owns/controls the voting machines? Damn, isn't it depressing that such a question even has to be asked?

23. Contributed.
:patriot:

This could be a great moral victory for the Democratic Party, an Iraq War vet whose patriotism has been questioned for opposing Bush and a win in a deep red district!
