John McCain on Bolton recess appointment: "I would support it"
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The Bush administration has no choice but to name John Bolton as UN ambassador during a Congressional recess, influential opposition Senator Joseph Biden said.

"Right now, it's the only way" to get Bolton to the United Nations, said Biden, who has been among the most vocal opponents of the controversial administration nominee who has been a harsh UN critic and favors a hardline toward Iran and North Korea.

The nomination, met with skepticism even among Bush's own Republicans, would normally be confirmed by the Senate, but Democrats have managed to stall Bolton's several times.

The White House hinted Monday that President George W. Bush could give Bolton a recess appointment, which would install him at the United Nations until a new Congress convenes in January 2007. "I would support it. It's the president's prerogative," Republican Senator John McCain said Tuesday of the move, which would amount to an end-run around Congressional opposition.

5. He really doesn't give a shit about this Country, does he?
I guess I already knew that, but...I feel like weeping. Nothing like naming the "Ugly American" to a diplomatic post. He would be better served appointing him something suitable, such as "Minister of Bellicosity" or something along those lines.

6. Somebody needs to tell John McCain
that his attempts to ingratiate himself to BushCo's constitutents will only lead to his downfall when they discard him like a moist towelette after use.

8. Don't hate McCain
He's been Roved.

Why? With hundreds of Republicans in Congress, is there not even one who will break with CuckooBananas? I ask again. Why? And how is such a thing accomplished?

I don't know the answer to these questions. But I think that somebody should do a little digging to find out what the hell is going on that hundreds of people act as a single entity. Just like the Borg. They act in unison, speak the same, vote the same. Even clear moderates, like Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, Lincoln Chafee, and Arlen Spector act like droids.

So tell me.

Why?

And how?

I think they're all Roved.

and form a new/old party. Hence my post above. Instead, he's bowing and scraping at the back door of the Bush White House like a slave at the big house, which is exactly the way the Chimp wants it.

Ah, what could have been...

10. Way to go John!
Just proves that you are no different then the rest of the rubberstamping cowards who call themselves Republicans today. It must seem like another life when you were a tough SOB standing up to the NVA in Hanoi. So sad to see you end up sucking ass on an AWOL coward who trashed you in 2000. Hey, it's your reputation, bud.

11. OK McCain is officially a changeling, or he's had a chip implanted in his
brain, like the Manchurian Candidate (the new version, not the Lawrence Harvey version)

14. Everytime I read some DUer praising McCain, I can't decide if I feel
sorrow, horror, or wonder. Wonder at what is wrong with me.

Can someone explain their lock step mentality?

15. I watched Bush's Brain tonight and I listened to McCain's campaign
manager talk about Rove. No Love lost there. Watching what he did to him in South Carolina I can't imagine going to the mat for someone who screwed you over so badly and pulled your FAMILY through the mud! I don't get it. There is more to this than meets the eye. Either McCain is as invested as they are in the program or they have something on him.

17. McCain would even support Ho Chi Minh right now
if he thought it would get him the Republican nomination in 2008.
