CNN: Joe Wilson corrects false GOP talking points & smears - (VIDEO)
July 15, 2005

Video - CNN: Joe Wilson corrects false GOP talking points & smears

The RNC has released talking points designed to take the media focus off of a White House breech of National Security.

In an interview with Soledad O'Brien, Joe Wilson exposes the false RNC claims by citing official sources.

Proof that Joe Wilson did not lie are readily available from news and government reports. Yet, corporate media continues to use RNC talking points at face value without any independent attempts to verify the facts.

The president said that he would fire anyone involved in leaking CIA information. Joe Wilson feels that the president should keep his word and fire Rove now.

1. Jeez - BushCo is on a full-scale propaganda war with this
as usual. Republicans have so much trouble with truth and integrity.

3. Exactly. They are in full "attack the messenger" mode now.
Sadly, they've gotten away with that tactic before. Will they be able pull it off again? Maybe the handful of Actual Journalists in this country will be able to do the right thing this time.

And if things get really hairy, will Joe Wilson suddenly "commit suicide" or be on board a small plane that suffers "engine trouble"?

This is high-stakes stuff now. Expect the repukes to be their absolute filthiest.

:scared:

5. Republicans are proving themselves to be fascists
and this issue is making it glaringly evident. Republicans do not care about this country, only about their party. Republicans do not care about the truth or justice or the "American Way" - they only care about power. This Rove scandal shows conclusively the fascist character of the Republican Party. This is what modern, American Fascism looks like; it is what it is. Power, wealth, control, dominance - the Republicans are revealing their true selves.

History teaches us that fascism cannot be fought with democratic methods and tools - it has to fought with force, with blood...

22. Hello everyone this is my first post
I just saw the interview with Wilson and the new Faux news channel(CNN). This just ticks me off, how much power the rupukes have right know. They control all of the media, but still proclaim that it is liberal. Do you remember when the 24 hr news channels actually provided good information. Where they were able to talk about more than one topic. They sure can use some lessons in multi-tasking, today.

Wilson made Soledad look like a complete fool. She is just another repub. tool. Btw, a rumor I heard is that she is sleeping with Rush. So if this is true just imagine how he is trying to get his points across thru her on CNN.

So if there is no real news to report and this discussion stays in the minds of the people. What do you think the rupubs. will do, to try and change the focus off Rove. How about another planned mission to Mars, or how about they admit to global warming exists because of all the wildfires that are occurring so they decide to have an initiated plan of deforestation, I'm sorry a healthy forest initiative :)

I hate to say this but I don't think anything will happen at all to Rove and Co. They will find a way out of this like they have with everything else, like the Downing Street Memo. Which the media never really touched upon. I would still like to hear what Bush Sr. has to say about all this. Didn't he say something to the fact that this is one of the highest crimes that is committed against the state.

Isn't it also funny that W. was running on the platform in 2000 of bringing back the integrity and honesty of the white house. So I guess having someone in your admin. leak the identity of a CIA agent is ok. Gee, have times have changed.

Also, what do think would happen if this occurred in 1997. I would like to know how all the repukes would attack Clinton.

"I'll take that as a no comment!!!"

Could she have been any more obvious. Typical right-wing hack. She is completely uninformed and without her own thoughts. That first question where she said, "Many others have said... they said.. some are saying" was pathetic journalism.

How do these people sleep at night?

16. "many others have said..."
That line SCREAMS Fox News. Didn't "outfoxed" use that line over and over again to show how pathetically low the bar of journalism has been set? It's so sad that CNN has stooped to this level.

14. Shameful reporting from CNN
Did this hair-sprayed monstrosity ever listen to Joseph Wilson?

She seems so intent on spreading the Meme(s)- not a covert agent, not authorized by WH- that it seems like she does not even have an audio feed of what Wilson is saying to her. All they do is point to her from off-camera when it is time to read the next right wing talking point.

Disgraceful

15. The RNC is spinning unsubstantiable inanities faster than a wacko
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 10:56 AM by Zorra
conspiracy theorist on a meth binge.

I don't watch TV. I have watched very little television in my life.

And now, I fully understand, after watching that interview, how the RW has managed to successfully brainwash a substantial portion of the American populace.

Television, IMO, is the most dangerous weapon in the world, and the bad guys are in possession of this weapon.

That "interrogation" was disgraceful. Mr. Wilson was very candid and maintained remarkable composure during what could almost be construed as a desperate attack by a completely biased talking head/wannabe defense lawyer trying to get their obviously guilty client off by doing her best, but failing, to smear a completely credible state witness. She was obviously well prepped by the RNC to try to spin any truths that Mr. Wilson might further clarify. She failed because all her points had their basis in fantasy.

CNN should be ashamed that it allowed one of it's talking heads to conduct that "interrogation", based on what has already proven to be completely contrived non-information invented by the RNC, non-information that has already been completely discredited and deemed impossible to substantiate.

Unbelievable.

Please, keep your children away from the television.

17. the lights are on, but ain't nobody home
Wilson should have just pointed out that he's not responsible for her lack of reading comprehension. Everything in his op-ed piece about the genesis of his trip is absolutely accurate, but if you can't understand simple English, then I guess you can come to the conclusion that he was claiming that the Vice President personally asked him to go to Niger. And wasn't he "insinuating" that he reported directly to Cheney upon his return, and that Cheney paid for the trip and packed him a lunch to take along.

34. Help, dzika!
I read a recent editorial that said Wilson initially lied about being suggested by his wife for the Niger trip. The editorial said he originally said she had nothing to do with it but that it has now come to light that she wrote a recommendation to the CIA for him to take the assignment. I need to set this straight with a LTTE!

36. The brilliance of this type of disinformation campaign...
... is that, even at its least effective, it either confuses the general public, or makes the general public feel that BOTH sides are somehow at fault.

Of course, in order to be effective, a disinformation campaign has to have a media willing to, at the very least, repeat the latest GOP talking points... over and over and over.
