Poll question: Nixon and *: Head to Head
So you wake up on election day, stumble to the polls, get in the booth, and much to your HORROR there are only two candidates on the ballot for president: Bush II and Nixon.

What do you do?

1. Nixon was a sleazy, nasty, paranoid piece of work.
But if he could be resurrected I'd take him back in a heartbeat if Bush were the only other choice.

3. Nixon needed therapy and meds
Bush has a personality disorder and he is beyond help!

2. Nixon.
We know that he at least had some decent qualities. Bush has zero.

Nixon also tended to learn from his mistakes. Bush doesn't make any.

4. NOXIN
I never thought I'd say this, coming from a long line of Nixon haters. What a mobster that guy was! And U-G-L-Y.

But, on the other hand, he signed the Clean Air Act; he supported Social Security (grew up poor kid on a lemon farm in SoCal); served honorably (although not with Kennedy's flash)in the Navy in the South Pacific in WW2; graduated second in his class from Duke Law School. Took the country off the archaic gold standard; froze wages and prices when it needed doing.

On the other hand: lied about bombing Cambodia; lied about ending the Vietnam War; lied about Watergate.

On balance: better than Bush.

BECAUSE NOXIN WASN'T A RELIGIOUS FANATIC!!!

Never thought the day would come when I'd miss him.

I still remember my old bumpersticker. "Lick Dick in'72".

15. NOXIN was the NIXON Bumpersticker
turned upside down.

Very common in Berkeley in, like, 1972.

5. Nixon resigned. Also, he didn't start Vietnam. He made it worse, but....
expained it, but he didn't start it.

6. Nixon. He may have worked for the energy and military mafia, but ....
...Bush is a part owner in that syndicate.

7. Only Nixon could go to China
as Mr. Spock once said.

Seriously, Nixon was a flawed human being and all that, but when he got caught, he had the decency to quit.

Does anyone ever think Bush would do something like that?

The man started a war using lies, knowing they were lies, and acting like he was elected Emporer rather than President.

Nixon bowed to the power of law. Bush believes he IS the law.

Nixon in a heartbeat.

11. Exactly right. I think Bush would take us all down. All the way to ....
...his bunker, while bombs fell overhead.

8. At the time I hated Nixon and thought he was no good.
But I didn't feel like our country was going into the toilet like I do now.

10. I'd vote for Nixon as my last vote before emigrating to Canada
Nixon was Bob LaFollette compared to Shrub. At least in his domestic policies. Gee, we thought we had it bad back then. Ha!
