We just lost a whole bunch of troops in ......
..... Afghanistan first a squad on the ground and the crew of
and troops of the helicopter going to their aid.

The strongest and best military in the world has been rendered out of order
by an AWOL punk who is just a tool of rich people. We should have had
that country locked fucking down by 10/15/01 .....
bin laden should have been dead by 12/01
his helpers in the Paki army and intel should be dead
the Saudi's who funded it should be dead ......

But NO .... asshole gets us into a no win war that his PNAC buddies wanted
from 1993 ....

Damn him ..... I hope our troops went quickly and were not captured or
tortured by the taliban

Quick evacuate the Capitol ...... pay no attention to the news.

1. Imagine, for a moment...
a world in which Gore was rightfully sworn in as president, but everything else (9/11) happened the same. (Not that I believe that would have necessarily been the case. Gore would not have dumped his own anti-terrorism report that specifically called attention to lax airport security. But I digress.)

Now imagine in this world that as Gore is running for re-election in 2004:

* Bin Laden is still on the loose
* The Taliban is still functional and causing chaos in Afghanistan
* 1000 of our troops have sacrificed their lives in Iraq, with no end to the bloodshed in sight
* The economy sputtering along
* Etc.

Do you think that it's remotely possible that Republicans would be FROTHING at the FUCKING MOUTH with RAGE over the incompetence of the Gore administration?

Damn they're hypocrites.

5. Millions of americans were frothing @ their mouths .....
.... but

1. *, rove, repug voting machines, saudi money, blackwell,
and powerful forces stole the election.

2. and a useless media failed to cover anything and in some cases
were part of the propaganda.

Look i live in Ohio .... we have lost over a million jobs,
the economy is in the shitter, over 500,000 new anti bush voters
were reregistered, and large #s of repubs were voting and working
against bush.

The message has been hijacked ..... just like the story about those
poor troops in Afghanistan.

3. It's awful and probably worse than what is being reported
It was 17 troops members for sure - but Arabic news is reporting another 15 or so, who are probably civilians of some sort. I'm not supporting the mercs, but, still, it's a human life.

So much for the "culture of life."

6. You know this SHOULD be a bigger story, but how many lump Afgh & Iraq?
I thought how this would be a big deal and a really awful story, if ass fuck hadn't gotten us into Iraq :( It's still awful, but I'm sure like everyone else, I'm so used to deaths from Bush's Grudge War on Iraq that it's just another event with dead soldiers. Thanks ass-fuck Bush :|

7. we spend 1/2 the entire humanity's military budget!
remember- the USA has had a popular president shot in broad daylight; then saw a warren commision cover up whatever might have been learned about it; that was 40 plus years ago!....with more then 2 million americans in prison, many for victimless crimes (pot possession etc) the US leads the world in jailing its citizens (some claim china and so on have more prisoners, but china's more then 3 times the US in population)....the US media overlooked a news item, the DSM, and continues to ignore the fact bush and blair premeditated mass murder on a nazi type scale.....the same mentrality overlooked the 2000 election, which numbers prove was won by mr gore....the same media overlooked exit polls which say the 2004 election was a kerry win ....the point is, there were no arabs involved in the HQ level of the 911 job; which was carried out by the only possible ones who could also benefit from a 911, the PNAC/natsec shit machine and their allies in the national 'elite' (who look kinda dopey with a geebush as their 'furor' ie leader btw)

10. My sentiments exactly
And when we do get press it is immediately stigmatized as that "librul media" out to undermine true American ideals.

This is my fucking country, too, and I'll probably have an aneurism before everything is said and done. My message to the extremists: don't put your vile words in my mouth, DO NOT define me in your twisted jargon, your propaganda, your irrationalities, or your beliefs, and on and on and on. . . .owwwwwwww, my head. . .

12. It's even more dramatic when you consider that
the US, ostensibly the world's greatest military power, is fighting in 2 countries with no military. And we're losing to both. I'm assuming that Afghanistan has no military, other than the Taliban.

I've riveted all my attention on Iraq for the past 3 years, I hardly know what's going on in Afgh.

However, I do recall that there was a huge flare-up a while back about a certain Holy Book that was flushed down the toilet at Gitmo. It caused rioting in Afgh., I believe 17 people were killed in the riots.

I'd say we're not exactly winning any popularity contests in that country. Maybe we should get out and salvage what's left of our dignity.

Great post, by the way.

13. Those were SpecOps troops as well.

Not that anyone's ultimate sacrifice is worth more than another, but those soliders are far more valuable in the "war on terror" than your average NG recruit. The military spends years and lots of money training these brave men and women to be the best soliders in the world and too lose them in such a way is horrific. If the true numbers are closer to the alleged 35-45, that's a significant loss to our elite operations in the region.
