New Hillary Clinton book aims to stop any 2008 run

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The author of a book aimed at hurting a potential White House run by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said on Tuesday she would be a "dangerous" president as critics slammed his reporting as flawed muckraking.

Edward Klein's "The Truth About Hillary," published on Tuesday by Penguin's conservative Sentinel imprint, portrays Clinton as a ruthless and ambitious woman who will stop at nothing to become president like her husband.

"I didn't go into this book ... with an agenda," Klein said, citing his 40 years as an "independent" journalist at places such as The New York Times' magazine and Newsweek.

Nevertheless, he told Reuters in an interview, "I do not want to see her become president of the United States. I think that would be a dangerous thing; to have another darkly paranoid president like Richard Nixon, who has an enemies list and is inclined to do illegal things."

4. Klein is full of shit
to say he didn't go into this with an agenda; give me a break. Obviously, is he doesn't want her to be president, he does have an agenda. Duh!

Hope she does.

11. Where did you hear that she's considering a lawsuit?

I hope you're not referring to Drudge on that; no one close to the Clintons would ever talk to Drudge.

13. Actually saw it somewhere else
and that source had (unfortunately) picked it up from Drudge. Here's an interesting op-ed piece about Hillary running, though. He also specifically addresses some things about the book:

<snip>
The sensation of the moment is a forthcoming book by Edward Klein, The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She’ll Go To Become President (Sentinel). Unfortunately for Hillary-haters, Klein — a former editor of the New York Times Magazine — is already under heavy siege for what appears to be some dubious journalism. The July issue of Vanity Fair includes a long, intriguing excerpt about Clinton’s frosty relations with the late New York senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan and his wife, Liz. Hillary comes off as an unappealingly slippery political naif who gradually overcomes on the strength of Bill’s advice and her own daunting intelligence. So far, so good. But MediaMatters.org has published plausible evidence that parts of the excerpt had been lifted from Sidney Blumenthal’s book The Clinton Wars (2003).

And that may be the least of Klein’s woes. Last Friday, the New York Post — hardly friendly to the Clintons — reported that two women described by Klein as lesbians who had, uh, influenced Hillary during her Wellesley College days were publicly denying Klein’s insinuations. One woman, indeed a lesbian, said she didn’t come out until 20 years after she left Wellesley. The other, married to a man, has retained a lawyer — never good news.

15. It is a good piece
Hillary has not decided to run; she'll wait until after her Senate campaign to make a decision. But whether she wants to go through this and drag her family through it again will certainly be an issue. I think Larry Sabato is right; it will be worse than in the 1990s.

Yeah. Get a clue, Ed.
The darkest, most paranoid administration ever is sitting in the White House right now. Where has Ed been?

3. MSNBC did a story this am about the book coming out. When

5. You'll be even angrier when he starts the TV tour
This is the book that accuses Bill of raping Hillary and conceiving Chelsea by doing so.

Everytime the Nazi party comes out with one of these, the Clintons get more popular.

He doesn't want "another darkly paranoid president like Richard Nixon, who has an enemies list and is inclined to do illegal things. As good a description of the George Bush gang as I have ever heard.

Would be?! I hope he brings me back some beer when he returns from whatever alternate reality he's been living in for the last 4+ years.
