DSM: the more coverage it gets, the more Bush has to defend the war
and this is great, because the reasons Bush is giving, like he did on the Saturday weekly address, are broken record bullshit that everyone knows are lies. To wit: "We went to war because we were attacked, and we are at war today because there are still people out there who want to harm our country and hurt our citizens."

No one buys this anymore, even the radical rightwingers know that Iraq had nothing to do with 911.

Downing Hits Main Street
Former supporters of the Iraq war now question it's validity; via Sarasota's Hearald Today...

The combination of the rising casualties, revelations like the so-called Downing Street memo and a growing perception that the war mission has become murkier has caused one-time war supporters and even strong proponents of the troops to question the wisdom of the mission. Attitudes here mirror some of what is reflected in recent national polls, which show declining support for the war.

The Bush administration is taking declining public support for the war as a warning that it must increase its communication about the reasons for the war and what it also considers reasons for optimism - with the White House pointing to the establishment of a new Iraqi government in the face of ongoing violence.

Evidence of that hope is not reflected in opinion polls. A New York Times/CBS News Poll released Friday showed only 37 percent said they approved of Bush's handling of the situation in Iraq, down from 45 percent in February. Also last week, there was a bipartisan call in the House to set a deadline for troop withdrawals

so what's gonna happen? A re-run of the 2002-2004 campaign, only it aint election time, folks. Americans get REAL bored REAL easy when they have to listen to excuses that are years old -- especially if Americans now know they were lies as well.

1. "We went to war because we were attacked"
It's hard to fathom why they think people still believe this crap.

8. We were not attacked by Iraq
Surprisingly, 42% of Americans still believe Hussein had something to do with 9/11.

2. It's just too bad that the majority of the corporate media don't have
the testicular fortitude to call chimpy on his lies and distortions. As amusing as it is to see him spin, lie and twist in the breeze, I'm waiting for the real fireworks to begin!

3. Didn't they exhaust their excuses during the run-up to the war?
It would seem so, since Bush* is resorting to the 9/11/Iraq connection lie again.

6. and that is why I find this a GOOD THING
ordinary americans, the unusual suspects, will not take continue to be apathetic. So long as the DSM story grows, which it evdently is as we are now seeing. .

12. There is one more option for the Chimp, and I hate to even
mention it. It wouldn't solve his problems, but he and the rest of the players in this administration are arrogant enough to try it.

"We were doing what was best for the country." (Specific reasons follow.) "We know best..."

11. I wish it were so, but...
I have been protesting this war for well over two years now. Once a week, every week - sometimes twice a week if I can make it to my group's Friday night protest in time after work.

People engage us in conversation from their cars at our busy intersection, mostly support these days, but a disturbing number still connect Iraq to Al-Quaida.

I know it's unbelievable, but they really, truly think that Iraqis were on those planes that hit the WTC and nothing will persuade them otherwise.

These fools will keep believing * (and spouting that twisted logic in their blue Baptist buses while they drive on...and preaching it to their children) as long as they can draw breath.

It's inexplicable and utterly staggering how stupid some people are; even with the evidence right in front of them they still cannot see truth.

You can lead a right-wing idiot to water...but you still can't make him drink.
