2. I didn't actually see the first plane hit, myself...
...but I was watching that same news channel the day before and they were saying that it was going to hit the tower tomorrow. Man, those reporters are really on the ball.

4. Isn't it true that
the only video of the 1st plane hitting the tower came out much later?

At any rate, what a horrible, disgusting thing to say.

5. God almighty, but that man is FILTH.
The video of the 1st plane hitting the tower didn't come out until a day or two later--remember the French brothers and their documentary?

6. Almost
seems like an anecdote in a stand-up comedy routine.

"One Terrible Pilot" would be a good title for a book.

8. did anyone catch the "line" from COLD CASE show?
we watched it the other night... one of the cops turns to a "suspect" and says "so you went to rehab? hey if you do a stint in the guards too - you could be president."

9. No, Bu$h was telling the truth
He did see the first plane hit the tower. But how could that be? Condi said nobody could predict someone would take airplanes and use them like missiles.

Bu$h knew and it was set-up so he could view it happening.

10. I'm not so sure...

my guess (but is only a hunch), is that it just makes for an easier/simpler anecdote and justification for doing nothing (i.e "a terrible pilot").

If he'd said "I was in the presidential limo and got a call about a plane hitting the WTC, I guessed it was an accident so just went to the school anyway", doesn't sound very impressive.

On edit: but if he did see it on TV, I can't understand why he couldn't say to the teachers "keep the kids occupied for 15 mins/half an hour, I just want to watch this TV footage, see what's going on".

23. That's why Bush was driving around Sarasota
that morning for over a half hour.

The drive through cleared roads should have taken 5 to 10 minutes, tops. When Bush arrived at Booker it was apparent that he already knew about the first plane.

Keep in mind that the attack was supposed to be over by 9:00. When Flight 93 left 45 minutes late, everything got set back 45 minutes. Then Bush, Rummie, Myers and everyone else had to go into stall mode. Hence, Bush getting stuck sitting in a classroom looking like an idiot. That wasn't supposed to happen.

12. The point is threefold. First, it's a shitty thing to say. Second, Bush
is wrong because the footage of the first plane was not found and aired until September 12 and the second plane didn't hit the tower until Bush was well into "My Pet Goat" as confirmed by footage of an aide informing Bush of the second plane hitting the towers so he didn't see any such footage before he walked into the classroom. Third, Bush's error is either a deliberate lie or he is misremembering the key event of his lifetime and that would make him just about the only person in America who doesn't remember where they were when they learned that the towers were under attack -- and in either case, he is unfit to command.

14. You remember, I remember, and neither of us started a war over it.
If he can start a war over an incident that didn't even affect him enough to recall when he learned about it, just think what kind of shitstorm that numbskull would stir if something affected him so personally that he actually remembered when he heard about it.

Ahem... must have caught a bug or something. God forbid the president should ever start a war to avange an insult to his daddy.

18. I don't know what you could possibly be talking about.
The Iraq occupation has nothing to do with Bush family hubris, it has nothing to do with oil, it has nothing to do interventionism in middle eastern regional politics.

The Iraq occupation is all about (1) the WMDs carefully hidden in yet undiscovered bunkers or spirited away, (2) Bush's overwhelming desire to "liberate" the Iraqi people he loves so much he bombs them into a state of perpetual freedom (thank God he's not so worried about "liberating" Africans; they'd never survive his compassion), and (3) because Saddam (and apparently the Iraqi civilians who've been in the line of fire since Saddam's capture) were behind the whole 9/11 attack. How can you doubt any of this? Don't you watch Fox News?

17. I guess Chimp could have inherited his father's memory problem
Seems Poppy was in Dallas Texas on 11/22/1963, but unlike any other human being over the age of 5 at the time, "can't remember where he was" when the President was shot.

15. I turned on the TV to CNN just as they were finally getting the footage
just MINUTES after it had hit, the closts shot they had was a shot just as the fireball was finishing and blowing up. That was the closest to watching the hit we had for almost a full day.

If he watched the first plane hit it was because he had a special video access.

20. He saw it hit all right...
On a closed-sircuit T.V. camera right before one of his aides said, "Sir, it's as we anticipated. We have been attacked, and this will allow us to rationalize a casus belli against Afghanistan and Iraq." Congratulations W., you abhorrent murderer.

25. Maybe he did see it in the hotel before he left for the school
ABC news interviewed * before he got into the limo to go to the school. They asked him about the first plane to hit the WTC. When Andy Card came to him, it was about the second plane to hit the WTC.
