Dean's tough talk on DeLay troubling to some analysts
This article on Howard Dean and his tough talk against DeLay really disturbs me.

http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/3194979

Is it true that Dem public officials in 17 states won't appear with Dean? Is it true that Dean's tough talk could result in Reeptiles circling the wagons around DeLay, in a public backlash for DeLay?

Such possibilities are un-fukking-believable! And yet, the media is so anti-Dean...

As for me, I love tough, straight talk from Dems, including Dean. But I'm a diehard liberal.

What do you think?

Sue

1. Of course it's troubling
They think the head of the party should be nice. They worry about whether we are being fair to the Republicans. They'd rather Dean bend over and take it like a good dog -- the way the Senate Democrats are doing.

8. Exactly..
... what a bunch of whining shitheads. They've been saying worse about the Clintons and any Dem who crosses them for over a decade.

When the shoe is on the other foot, they whine like little babies.

Dean, you just keep doing what you are doing. And any Dem who is "worried" about it, why don't you put on your pink tutu and go home.

2. Dean speaks the truth
Dean is exactly what many of us have been begging for, a Democrat with balls.
Delay is toxic (no pun intended). After today me thinks the wagons will be circling around McCain. Even the dumbest refuklikin knows not to hitch their wagon to the dead horse Delay.

4. Yeah, it's troubling for DeLay's future in the House!!!
The troubled analyst cited is a former member of the Xtian Coalition!!!! He's the "opposing view" asshole that everyone hires for purposes of seeing how the other half thinks!!!

"Republicans are circling the wagons around DeLay, but Democrats shouldn't form a circular firing squad in response," said Marshall Wittmann, a former Christian Coalition staffer who is now a senior analyst with the Democratic Leadership Council, a centrist Democrat think tank.

Then they cite an analyst with real clout:
But Thomas Mann, a senior analyst with the Brookings Institution, a liberal-leaning Washington think tank, said it was almost impossible for Democrats to overplay their hand.

"Dean may well diminish himself with these attacks, but in the end it doesn't matter," Mann said. "It will damage DeLay. Nationally, he is going from an anonymous figure to one becoming much better known and in a negative way."

Their last cite was a Professor Emeritus...ie, a retired pontificator!!! Hell, I qualify for that job, why didn't they call me and ask my ass for a 'pithy' quote!!!!

Lame, meaningless article--much heat, little light. And the headline does NOT match the copy, if you read it carefully. A holy roller and a retired guy, those are "some analysts." The one they quote who has a responsible job thinks Dean is gettin' it done.

Please. This is shitty journalism at its apex!

7. He is standing up to a bully, unapologetically
A bully who has been allowed to operate criminally without accountability.

We don't need to handicap our own representitives from upfront confrontation with these crooked bastards.

9. How much of a story was it when Reeps wouldn't appear with Chimpy?
This was during the first Bamboozlepalooza tour (not to be confused with the current one.)

10. The 17 states thing
I couldn't find the "Political Hotline" that supposedly makes that claim. However, Tim Russert said Sunday that Dean has traveled to 17 states since his election in February. It is possible, I suppose, that there was a Democratic senator or governor in every one of those states that didn't appear with Dean. Republicans like to imply that is because some Democrats consider Dean a liability, but they rarely support that with any real evidence. Usually it turns out that the state Democrat in question had a prior committment.

I take this claim as an oft-repeated, unsubstantiated anti-Dean talking point. We've been hearing it since the primaries.
