I have no idea if "we've" won or lost. What I do know is these group of men need to be applauded for thier leadership. This debate has been nasty and there looked to be no good ending for either side. If the Republicans had invoked the Nuclear option, we'd know just how powerful Frist and Bush really are. If the Dems tried to shutdown the Senate, things could have spiraled quickly out of control. I don't know who won but I do know, these Senators have managed to divert a very damaging battle. I think they deserve some thanks, no matter what side "claims" victory.

1. we need to move on to the next battle.
can anyone tell me why a moderate republican would oppose any of the fallowing nominations:
Pryor Jr.
Myers III
Saad
Griffin
McKeaque
Because this is where the next battle is.

3. Thanks for this...
I agree with you. Today is a day to celebrate and express gratitude to "the gang of 14" who did their jobs well have found a compromise that both sides can live with.

5. I don't understand most of the posts I have seen on other
threads tonight. In my opinion, Frist and the White House blinked tonight. They were having trouble with their middle ground repubs and public opinion

Those who wanted the dems to do more simply can't count cards - would not want them for a bridge partner. Also, no written contract exists. If Frist keeps acting up every judge may be declared an "extreme circumstance".

6. I agree.
As a liberal, I worry, of course.

But as an American, I am extremely relieved that the rape of minority rights has been averted for now.
