MSNBC/WSJ Poll: We can now say "we told you so". Don't.
Edited on Wed May-18-05 08:13 PM by Tandalayo_Scheisskop
It is pretty apparent that the rest of the country is catching up to what we, of our political persuasion, knew well before the last election. To use a oil patch metaphor:

"George Bush and the repukes ain't nothin' but a dry hole"

People are getting it. Things aren't getting better and the thing he is trying to do are not what he ran on. In fact, what did he run on, besides "hard work" and fear and desire for some kind of revenge.

He is now just about at the level of his solid base, and he might go below that. Congress? Look at the numbers. Who's in charge?

There is plenty of time for the Dems to make their case to the nation. Remember that if they start too soon, they would be exposing themselves and their ideas to the most effective political opposition and savaging machine ever. You don't want to show your cards too soon.

Oh, and if you want to worry about the possibility of a "wag the dog" moment? Sure, they can do it, but how many times can they go back to the well?

People are getting it, and that may well be the most effective arrow in our quiver.

But really, we ain't gonna get much of anywhere by rubbing their noses in it. Lead them gently into the light.

2. Sorry. Hard to be either gentle or genteel these days.
Fuck 'em. They get the government they asked for, voted for (maybe), and deserve by their inattention and selfishness. I'll be first in line to tell them what idiots they have been proven to be.

12. And will they vote for you?
I know that you're only human and that just among ourselves (and I don't mean openly here on DU -- I mean behind closed doors) we can scoff and the tragic foolishness that brought Bush to power. But rubbing somebody's nose in their last vote is not going to lead them toward our side of the ballot. Before we start in with a big chorus of "Nyah Nyah Nyah," let's first gain control of Congress and the White House.

3. I only wish I could believe that, but I' don't.
Every time I think things are changing and most of the public is really understanding, something stupid happens, and my hopes get shot down again!

5. The Right was wrong & We were right
What have we gained by invading Iraq? Anything America has gained from the Right's wrong war, is all negative.

A dry hole, indeed. Way to go George, you've wasted time, money and thousands upon thousands of lives.

It's all bad.

6. But what dumb
thing will they campaign on in '06 to get everyone thinking they need them again? I can't believe they actually voted for him/them in the other elections either. They might not have really won but it was still close enough to make the theft possible.

11. I know some of the electorate is dumb, I did not grow up in the US
Edited on Wed May-18-05 08:56 PM by demo dutch
so correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think in the history of the US, the population has ever let an administration pull the wool over their eyes to such extent. Anything is possible, but even the "Grand" theft that had to occur at this scale seems almost too fantastic to believe! I didn't think what the Nazi party accomplished in Germany would be possible in the western world today! Amazing!

10. Don't blame me I voted for Kerry.
I proudly display my button in my extremely republican area and I have had nothing but positive responses. I don't have to say or do anything-they just tell me they like the button or they agree with me.
It does make me sad though, to think what could have been if only people had wised up sooner. I don't think it is necessary however, to point out to the Bush supports that they were mislead-I think they already figured that out.

13. Dry Hole?
Sorry, but let me get away from the oil patch metaphor and get down to the nitty gritty. I would be more inclined to describe George & company as "wet, holes", and I"m not talking about oil patches either.
