Rummy's response to Newsweek story on Koran desecration at Gitmo...
Edited on Mon May-16-05 02:29 PM by flpoljunkie
"We need to be careful what we say and what we do." - Rummy on CNN a short while ago.

Sounds like the same kind of threats we heard before from the corrupt Bush adminstration.

1. What about the 1600 dead in Iraq over MIS-information and lies???
These hypocrites make me fucking sick.

They are just alleging that this is not true. Just like everything else.
These assclowns make their living desecrating others beliefs and you think they did not do this???? Of course they did.
Bush and Cheney probably have a Koran in their bathroom to tear pages off and wipe their asses.
Why not put that in the paper. the truth sucks.

Seems to be the subtext to all their spin

3. You mean like when he said
"You go to war with the army you have, not the one you might need or want."

Yep, he sure was careful there.

5. And when Ari Fleischer said, Americans need to watch what they say and do.
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/media/july-dec01/dissent_10-16.html

TERENCE SMITH: The irreverent Bill Maher, host of Politically Incorrect learned the limits of dissent when he made this comment less than a week after the September 11 attacks.

BILL MAHER: We have been the cowards, lobbing Cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, not cowardly.

TERENCE SMITH: Maher's comments ignited a firestorm. And some local stations dropped or suspended his show. At the White House, Press Secretary Ari Fleischer issued a cautionary note.

ARI FLEISCHER: There are reminders to all Americans that they need to watch what they say, watch what they do. This is not a time for remarks like that. There never is.

6. another subterfuege
If newsweek hadn't done the story, wouldn't the truth come out eventually? The US isn't going to hold these people until they die, right? When they get out they are going to talk about their treatment. That is probably why afghanistan is so angry. Some of their people have been released and are telling their story. I don't think one article in newsweek is going to set off an entire region. They have been hearing similar stories from other sources for years. But once again, lets blame the media. It's not the policy but talking about it.

A local rw idiot radio pundit said this morning that what goes on in Guantanamo Bay should stay there just like Vegas. These are dangerous terrorist and we can treat them how we want if it is about our security. The press needs to shut up let the military protect us. He believes that everyone in our custody is a blood thristy terrorist just waiting to strike.
