John Conyers: "Ohio 2004: Ignoring the Canary"
- - - - -clip- - - - -
The exit poll discrepancies are to the evidence that massive disenfranchisement occurred in Ohio, as the canary is to the detection of harmful gases in a coal mine. When a canary dies in a coal mine, that alone is not proof positive that something is wrong (maybe the cause of death was just old age or as John Cleese once said, maybe he is "just sleeping"). But -- if you are working in the coalmine -- you just might want to check things out.

1. I adore this man for his resolve and integrity
John Conyers is the only politician I reckon I'll ever be able to say that about.

What gets me -- the Theo-Corporate Rethugs whine about the WA governor race and it's all over the news for months (and the Corporate News is STILL covering it). Meanwhile, thousands of accounts of election fraud, voter intimidation and suppression, as well as Conyers' investigation into same, are covered by CNN one night in December with the words, "The recount in Ohio is over." And NOT ONE PROBLEM has been resolved.

The only people who believe the Theo-Corporate Rethugs are victims are other Theo-Corporate Rethugs. The rest of us are just ordinary Americans who want our country back from the soulless swindlers on the Right.

3. He better hope his district doesn't have voting machines.
Soon only the Zell Millers and Joe Leibermans will get elected from the "Democratic" side. No real Democrat will ever see the halls of Congress again.
