Bill Moyers on the Dean Iowa post-caucus "yah!" controversy
Bill Moyers on "Now with Bill Moyers" tonight:

Dean broke the 11th commandment, Thou shalt not be intemperate.

Unless you're a radio-host or a cable-news host, in which case being an intemperate bully is rewarding.

---------------------------

As someone else at DU pointed out, Chris Matthews has been ridiculing Howard Dean by playing the 10 second clip where Dean says "yah" a zillion times, but Chris Matthews himself frequently shouts.

Chris Matthews said tonight, "We love that clip. We're wallowing in it."

Should a journalist wallow?

1. By definition...
Those who wallow are not journalists...

7. a perfect observation
Too bad only we care. People who might otherwise care are busy working, hanging onto their jobs, paying their bills, and raising their kids.

2. Dean
I get a kick out of them, they trash Dean so badly that he slingshots like a snapping rubber band stretched to capacity, to third place, then they have the nerve to sit up there and speculate as to why he has dropped so precipitously.

I can imagine that speech being portrayed in a fair way, for one thing I've heard a lot of them calling it a concession speech. I'd say he nowhere near conceded anything. They could have reported it like "Dean gave a rousing rally-the-troops speech after his third place finish in Iowa, meeting with intense applause and support from all who had worked so hard in his campaign." Now that would have been fair. Instead, they don't just call it a "muskie moment" but all branches and types of media have set about to make it one.

Just a case of
Video kills the Internet Star,
Video kills the Internet Star,
Who is Dean,
We don't care,
We'll beat him down,
Everywhere.

Don't think they were thinking about the tax increase on their six to seven figure salaries, do you? I do. It's a travesty, to be sure.

3. It's working but not how they planned
I am having people ask how they can work for the campaign, they are so outraged that this decent person was so maligned.

6. My daughter came home last night
to work the weekend for Dean. before Monday she had no plans to do this but had a nightmare about Kerry and decided Tuesday morning to do all she can for Dean. She also said that students at NYU are writing for absentee ballots from all their states because they are royally Deaned off.

Come to NH. any and All. I have rooms, the campaign has rooms.

4. Still hoping the whole kit and caboodle
backfire big time on the media. They need to be taken down a peg/two.
