2. Will he actually be "in" the Crossfire??
If so, well, that's pretty ballsy. Especially if that nasty pit snake Novak is anywhere near.

10. Max Cleland does it on the campaign trail for Kerry.
He and other vets go OFF on it. Kerry can't. But, he has other vets who do. heh.

16. It's not going to have legs. The media has ignored it for 3 years..
They will continue to ignore it. I wish I could be wrong. But, I don't think I am.

8. Kerry avoids AWOL issue
"It was over the top", but Begala brings it back. Yea Paul!!!

Kerry doesn't want any part of it.

I guess that's ok. Let the troops like Begala carry the water.

12. Whatever happened to "Beat `em with the AWOL stick!"?
For over a year now, the DU Kerry supporters have been saying one reason to back Kerry is that he will beat Chimpy "with the AWOL stick."

Doesn't look like it after all.

14. Double standard, Clinton
He said back when Kerrey was making an issue of Clinton's service that what one chose to do during Vietnam shouldn't be an issue. But you bet, he'll let others hammer away on it. He's going after the WMD. The real stuff. Smart.

15. He could have answered in a way to keep in the debate and....
put Bush and the Repubs on the defensive. He wimped out. I hated to see that. I guess he thinks they won't talk about his medals over the fence if he doesn't talk about Bush's AWOL?

25. Kerry says
I'm not going there.

He also inferred Clark was wrong to handle the AWOL issue the way he did.

Thanks for the help John, NOT.

19. No surprise there. I don't know why people thought that..
any of the candidates would use this as an issue. As Kerry correctly pointed out, this is not the fight he wants to make.

Only Clark and Kerry can bring the AWOL issue to the forefront and Kerry doesn't seem to want to play ball.

21. I don't blame him. People don't care if bush deserted or not...
They don't care if he lied about a war. What makes you think they care if he went awol?

22. Did you put earplugs in?
Did you miss the part where he said Cheney was not stating the facts about Iraq? Did you miss the part where he said Bush misled the nation? This is what he is going to go after Bush on because this is where he has FACTS.

26. Kerry had a chance to let the issue hang ou there
Instead, He inferred Clark was wrong, & he, Kerry, would not stoop to those beliefs.

Didn't help at all, & made Wes look bad at the same time.

What a disappointment.

18. Kerry did very well
He took Novak's 'aren't you ashamed' question about Vietnam 'medals', turned it into 'ribbons' and then professed his pride in his own and other's service, and then further explained how it was a painful but necessary gesture, giving what was going on in Vietnam at the time. Perfect pitch.

He also refused to impugn other people's choices back then, but I missed if the question was about Bush? If it was, he missed an opportunity, like Wes did against Peter Jennings last night.
