I know its wrong- but I secretly want the "nuclear option" to happen:
..It would be priceless if the asses that are pushing for it to happen find themselves a few years from now sitting slack-jawed and incapable of doing anything to stop 'liberal' appointments..all because of a change in the rules that THEY made. But, I know its wrong to feel this way...

1. The problem is the damage they will do in the meantime...
It's already going to take a generation to fix the mess from these idiots...never mind COMPLETELY owning the Senate too (as opposed to just having more members). Otherwise, I'd probably agree with you, but I just keep thinking of three more Scalia's in there...

2. and what would be even funnier
is doing a recess appointment on 100% of the nominees every time, even though there's clearly no need to.

I would just love to watch their little freeper heads assplode.

6. first,
we gotta win. It doesn't look too good from here. Especially if there is anything to the election fraud story. If so, We'll never win again.

4. Then there would be 12 freeper on the Supreme Court! That would
not be pretty. Don't wish the worst. I know we need to prepare ourselves for it. But don't hope for it. Just get ready for it - in case they do it. And then you will not be so strung out.

And Democrats in power will not be able to undo all that the GOP has put in place if they get all their judicial nominations. Remember how far a little man like Bolton can go (in terms of career). The reason why they want this nominations is so that they can change the culture of the judiciary. And stop any cases brought against the government for things like 'messing with the constitution'. Remember that the attorney general gets to choose which judge takes which case. And I am sure the Rove has huge 'rezoning' in mind or some such plan to structurally change the system to destroy the Democratic vote.

I would not want to be anywhere near the USA if those judges get put into place. Rove thinks years ahead. These extremist judges are part of the plan. And Bush will keep trying to put off the 2001 recession until the Democrats get into power. When the economy & the government will collapse. And then the Repukes will get back into power.

Remember that if the fundies do not practice birth control, live in traditional marriages, and if the only immigrants are guest workers, the number of religious are just going to grow percentage wise.

Don't hope that they get control of the last part of the government that they want to control. Then they will pass 50 pieces of legislation while Bush is a 'lame duck' and Americans will never be able to undo it all (because of the judges and the doubt that Democrats could ever get the majorities that Bush enjoys now).

The judges are a key part of the plan. Do not hope that this happens. Americans are tired and exhausted and they will just be worn down by one more lost fight. That is the whole point of the coercion. To wear people down so that the USA can be remade in Karl Rove's image.

7. Who says the Democratic party will ever be in power again?
Remember Diebold! The nuclear option is another attempt to distort our gov't and our Constitution.

9. Understand your feeling, but it's a very *bad* idea.
It smacks a bit of "scorched earth" -- there won't be much (if anything) left by the time your scenario allows for retribution.

10. Senator Obama was on C-Span yesterday and was asked about
the nuk option. He started talking about his tenure in the Illinois senate. When he arrived the repugs were in charge and he said they adopted Delay's rules and the repugs simply would not talk to (did not need to deal with) the Dems. Later the Illinois senate changed to majority Dems and their own rules came back to haunt them.

By the way, I was really, really impressed with how he fielded questions from the audience. Very smart guy and (like Clinton) is really good on his feet.
