Move America Forward attacked Voinovich and says his vote is changed
According to Townhall
townhall.com/news/politics/200504/POL20050427a.shtml

Move America Forward said it spent tens of thousands of dollars airing radio ads throughout the state of Ohio on more than a dozen news/talk radio stations. The ads ran from April 21-25, and the pressure tactic apparently worked.

"On Thursday, the day the ads began running, Voinovich's office phones were jammed with callers and computer e-mail in-baskets were clogged with messages related to the Bolton confirmation. It was no better Friday," Move America Forward said in an email message.

"At this point in time we believe John Bolton's nomination will progress from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Mr. Bolton will be able to receive an up-or-down vote from the full U.S. Senate - which is the way it should be," said Howard Kaloogian, co-chairman of Move America Forward.

FreeRepublic joined in on this attack. They had a drive to smother Voinovich's office with calls and faxes and emails. Perhaps it would be good to use their tactics and launch a counter attack.

Also... please call the Senator's office in addition to the emails:

PHONE: (202) 224-3353

If the above number is busy call: (513) 684-3265

And if that number is busy try: (216) 522.7095

Send a FAX to:

FAX: (202) 228- 1382

When finding out that their attack worked, a poster at FreeRepublic said

Here is a classic example of how a small handful of staunch, patriotic Americans made a differnce. By the way, if not aware of it, Melanie Morgan was responsible (with a couple of others) for the effort to throw Gray Davis out of the Governor's mansion. And it worked. This should really bother the libs, if they had a brain, because the INERTIA in their "existence" is so low, they are easy to overcome.

2. I think they're getting ahead of themselves since there are more hearings
to be held before the committee, none of which will have anything good to say about Bolton.

I think there are pretty decent odds that Voinovich will hear yet more of what made him leary of Bolton to begin with.

3. Done, here is what I sent
Dear Sir, I am contacting you as a concerned citizen. Though I do not reside in the State of Ohio I know that John Bolton is not the right choice to represent this country before the UN. It is high time to put this country ahead of party loyalties, and do what needs to be done. This man needs not leave Committee.

His history is that of abuse and doctrinaire blindness. He has stated, among other things that the UN does not exist, and is part of a small, if at times very vocal, minority that does not believe in the rule of law, International or otherwise. They are not Conservative, they are Radicals. The last thing we need is a radical representing this country, in the UN Security Council.

Sincerely

....

7. A very good letter
My letter thanked him for his vote and just said that Bolton's lack diplomatic skills would make our country less liked in the world and therefore less safe.

4. I fired off emails to each of these people.
This is GOOD. And YES, we HAVE TO counter that damned inertia. Many on the side of The Light get discouraged too easily.

A refresher course, and a booster shot, if you will. Humbly submitted with gratitude to DUer Sapphire Blue

5. It always amazes me that people so hung up on "flip-flopping"
don't give a rats ass about the constant contradictions coming out of the GOP these days.

6. Many DUers expressed that they knew he would flip
they said he most likely wanted something, the gop would give it to him and he would cast his vote for them.

Looks like they nailed it.
