Touching on politics briefly: Has anybody besides me notice how nice the Republicans have been to Hilary Clinton of late? They sing her praises and point out that they think she’d be a formidable candidate for President. You believe that and I’ll sell you some swamp land in Nevada.

If I were a Republican I would use the same tactics. I’d want Hillary to run and be the Democratic Party’s nominee. After all she is a very polarizing force and would be the easiest Democratic candidate for them to beat in 2008.

If the Dems are stupid enough to fall for this one, than they get what they deserve another four years, (at least) of Republican control of the Executive Branch of our legislature.

Simply put, a Northern liberal, let alone a female, running for President, has about as much chance of winning as I do, and I’m not a candidate.

It goes on some more.

Actually this view pretty much sums up how I feel. Who knew that one could get thoughful pundit pap from a Boxing site. TKO, as far as I can tell! Of course, that's just me!

1. They are a bunch of freaks. Dont worry about them.
The boxing people on boxing scene are stupid.

I should know, I was one of them until I grew up.

5. Did you read it
He made sense.

He covered everything from Hillary to Bolton to the fillibuster, and supported us for the most part.

If he's stupid, then we are too.

2. however, they need to get her out of the limelight before...
the Dems are clearly associated with her as prez candidate: she cannot win: I feel it in my blood.

signed: a heterosexual, progressive woman who wishes the matter was otherwise but is distressed when I see Hillary holding her finger up in the air to get a feel on the temperature.

3. Well....
... whether these are sharp people or not, they are absolutely right. Hillary is not Bill, she is not loved, she is not an inspiring speaker and NOBODY could dream of getting out the Rep vote better than she would.

I agree, if we nominate her we don't deserve the white house.

4. if she wins the nomination..
she'll have my vote. I await a leader with direction. Not that she has any, but I don't want any Harold Ford types either= I'd stay home. General Clark sounds about right.

9. I agree, The General would be a hard one for the GOP to cope with
and I'm sure that they are praying it won't happen. Notice that the Pubs never push him on us. Now why would that be?

I think the problem they have with Clark is that his claim to fame is fairly recent, and it's hard to smear somebody who led America to a quick and (almost) bloodless victory and represents the most ardent of patriots. Oh sure, they'll try to smear him (like they did the last time during the primaries), but I just don't see it sticking, and I do think they know that. Their only game plan is to take him out during the Democratic Primaries. Guess it's up to us.

6. I'd like to see who's she's running against during the Primary
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 09:35 PM by iconoclastNYC
I've had some knee jerk "anybody but hillary" thoughts in the past, but i'm going to see who runs against her in the primary and see who is talking about the issues that i think the democratic party should be talking about. if she offers true progressive leadership i'll support her. if she tries to triangulate a handful of swing voters, forget it.

i'm going to support the candidate that is best for the democratic party. in victory AND in loss. by that i mean, the one that steers the party in the right direction.

kerry didn't help the democratic party with his campaign.

the long term question for the party is : how do we game the corporate media like rove does. how can we raise the negatives of any and ever possible republican candidate in the next four years and during the campaign? we have to have a antidote or a countermeasure for each type of dirty republican trick and we have to think of ones that they haven't thought of and figure out how to undo those if they are used against us.

the right wing has been raising hillary's negatives since day one becasue they knew as the first career woman first lady she was going to enter politics. we better be following every member of the bush family and compiling dirt on them. if not the DNC then someone from the left wing.

8. I agree about the Corporate media
We really got get a better grip on that problem, if we hope for any progress. Witness the way that they are reporting on religion and on Democrats; it will surely be a hard fight against them to get through. That's why the candidate and who he/she is will be most important.
