Reid Nails BitchBoy Fristy On the "Nuclear Option"
From Armando at http://dailykos.com

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, on a conference call with bloggers today:

They’re great with names… On Social Security, they’ve been trying to call private accounts “personal accounts.” They can talk about the constitutional option all they want. It’s privatization, and it’s the nuclear option. They created those terms, and they’re going to wear them around their necks from now till Doomsday.

I just got off a conference call with Senator Harry Reid, the Senate Democratic leader, and several Lefty bloggers. Senator Reid discussed Republican leader Senator Frist's threat of using the "nuclear option" -a phrase coined by Republicans- the elimination of the filibuster.

The most important statement from Reid, in my opinion, was that he believed that if Frist had the votes in the Senate to push the "nuclear" button, he would have done so TODAY. So when Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), the GOP whip, claims that Frist has the votes for the "nuclear option," we should not believe him.

Apparently, there are a core of sane Republican Senators who realize the irreparable damage that would be caused by Frist's going "nuclear." These Republicans Senators appear to be Sens. McCain of Arizona, Chafee of RI, Snowe of Maine, Hagel of Nebraska, Collins of Maine, Sununu of New Hampshire, Smith of Oregon, Graham of South Carolina, Lugar of Indiana, Specter of Pennsylvania, Warner of Virginia.

1. Nuclear option brings nuclear winter. Do repubs have the stomach for it?
Live by the sword, die by the sword.

And every other cliche you can think of.

I LOVE how Harry has said they will wear those words around their necks 'til Doomsday. I'm backing you all the way on that Sen Reid!

2. Now the pubs are trying to play it that the Dems came up
with that name 'nuclear option'. They're the ones who invented it. TPM says they have seen internal media memos where the media is debating whether or not to go along with the pubs on this - to say this is a Dem term.

3. A standing O for Harry Reid!!!
This man has balls. He's smarter and more cunning than Frist and I think we're going to see the GOP outmaneuvered in the Senate for the rest of this year. This could be fun!

6. YES! We have learned from the Republican's mistake.
If they had that WMD they would use it. Prepair for the Elite Republican Guard's own Baghdad Bob.

7. Just tried AGAIN to call Frist's office - line always busy!
I'll take that as a good sign--all the callers can't be Frist supporters!

12. I think a lot
of Senators think that this is wrong. I think only the real nuts meaning Frist, Inhofe, Coburn, Thune, Chambliss, Lott and a few others are really in support of the nuclear option. The problem I see is that I think a lot of them support it now because of political reasons, I think Lugar is the most obvious example of this. My fear is that the people that Kos listed, Bush and others will twist a few of those arms and get them to support Cat Killer and we may go Nuclear.
