The Great Swindle: Oh You Must See This 1948 ((Video))
A Union recruitment film criticizing monopoly control of the U.S. economy and advocating union membership as a defense against corporate power.

It starts off as a drama showing working people discussing labor and costs of living, etc. But at the10 minute point it goes into a economics lesson, slaming big coporations....... Classic.. :)

Here's on sample quote:

"You would think these companies would be ashamed of themselves, but big business has no shame, for big business has no soul.. Its out for profits, big profits and cares nothing for people's needs. Profits which they make through controls; direct controls and indirect controls, but always real controls over the whole economy of the United States. We know the facts of this picture thanks to the investigations of the Roosevelt Administration.........Because of their ability to manipulate; inflation is enriching the monopolies; it is hurting the people; it must be stopped. We the people can and must call a halt to this arrogant misuse of power. Democracy demands the defeat of monopolies and the monopoly power, the people can do it, the people will do it!"

Man how I wish we had media like this today..

1. I have a book about that union (UE).
I seem to recall mention of that movie in it. Thanks for the tip. I see where there are a few other labor-related videos at that site, including the 1934 SF General Strike.

2. Yeah, there's a few good
Labor-related videos at that site that could do some good at educating the Repubs who certainly lurk through the DU forum (that is maybe, if they would use their heads for once).

Also, that site has another good video featuring the (UE). Its called "Deadline For Action" and is just as good as the "The Great Swindle" video above.

Here's the links to download it:
