DNC Launches Rural Radio Ad In Ohio
Ad Targets Rep. LaTourette as President Pitches Privatization Scheme
Washington, DC - "The Democratic National Committee (DNC) will launch a radio ad tomorrow, coinciding with the President’s visit to Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, OH, to sell his privatization scheme. The ad, titled "Benefit Cuts," will run in Cleveland and across the state on the Ohio Radio Network’s farm and agriculture stations.
The 60-second ad urges Ohioans to call local Republican Congressman Steven LaTourette and urge him to oppose the President’s Social Security privatization plan that would reduce guaranteed benefits and increase the national debt.
Social Security privatization has yet to win many supporters. The President’s sales pitch has been widely panned by Republicans and Democrats alike. In Ohio, even Republicans like Rep. LaTourette and Senators DeWine and Voinovich have refused to endorse Bush’s plan. Tomorrow, Rep LaTourette will have a chance to choose between standing with his party or standing up for his constituents and Social Security.
"Benefit Cuts" is the latest in a series of radio ads aired by the DNC that have tracked President Bush as he has traveled to the districts of Republican House members across the country to sell his floundering Social Security privatization plan...."
