Bush to Show Gratitude at Pope's Funeral
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Published: April 4, 2005

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush said Monday he is looking forward to attending Pope John Paul II's funeral and expressing Americans' gratitude for the life of such a courageous, moral and holy man.

As Bush prepared to leave for Vatican City later this week, he recalled a trip to the pope's summer residence as one of the fondest memories of his presidency. He said even though they didn't agree on everything, he always appreciated hearing the pope's point of view.

2. Since the Pope was against the war and Bush caused it
do you think any people who loved and respected the pope will protest Bush at the funeral?

13. Do you think they will remember that?
As far as your average Faux veiwer remembers, the Pope was always in support of the war. You know, the one Bush fought to liberate the Iraqis.

5. Has he gotten his invitation?
I heard one news report that talked about him going, but they mentioned he hadn't received his invitation yet. Do you need an invitation to attend or is it taken for granted that heads of state will be in attendance?

6. please, please, please tell me he
will not be speaking. This is not a tent revival outside the pig farm. As Howard Dean said in Tennessee 'humility is also a moral value that the republicans haven't learn yet'.

9. he owes JP2 bigtime

After all, after his visit to the Vatican in August suddenly all these U.S. Catholic bishops were telling their flock to vote for him.

It was a pure coincidence, just like Rumsfeld the autocrat having not a clue that torture was the systematic business of his military prison system.

11. "And of course we look forward to the majesty of celebrating
such a significant human life.''

Inadvertently letting us know he thinks there are lives that are insignificant. Way to go, Culture-of-Life Man!

18. Bush just wants another chance to equate himself with the Pope
"The pope was a champion of freedom...just like me!! I didn't attack Iraq for WMD's or oil; it was for freedom!"
