neocons would have executed St Paul....
What evidence do I have? That's easy.

When Paul was Saul of Taursus he was responsible for the murder of hundreds if not thousands of Christians before his conversion. As a matter of fact, he held the coat of the executioner who killed the first Christian martyr....Stephen.

Do we have any reason to suspect that Paul would survive the wrath of the Christian right of today, especially in light of the Karla Faye Tucker execution? The right-wing Christian conservative likes to say that, sure, maybe someone has been converted to Christianity on death row, but there still needs to be justice in the matter.

And how forgiving were they of President Clinton and his terrible indescretion? Not very. Mr. Purity, Jerry Falwell, even created a video "The Clinton Chronicles" in his own personal attempt to destroy the man, accusing him of murder, rape, being a cocaine drug addict, etc.

Can anyone even begin to imagine what these people would have done to King David because of his indescretions with Bathsheba, or when he sent a man off to war with the sole intention of him dying so that he could have the man's wife?

And if they try and tell you that they interpret the Bible literally and strictly, ask them if they are prepared to carry out the death penalty for the capital offenses laid out in Deuteronomy, which include "striking, cursing, or disobeying your parents" and working on the Sabbath. Are they ready to drag a Christian Bookstore owner into the streets on a Saturday or Sunday and execute them for "working on the Sabbath"?

These people are hypocrites by definition.

4. Actually, Paul WAS almost killed by the early Christian church (see Acts)
Because of his stances on Gentiles in the Christian movement (he was for it) and on circumcision (he was against it) Paul incurred the wrath of the Christian hierarchy in Jerusalem. When he returned there after his travels, he faced not only a furious leadership but a group of men who had taken a Nazarite oath "not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul." It was only because the Romans got to Paul first and took him into custody that they church didn't get a chance to kill him.

He was later beheaded in Rome.
