Why are Dem Senators not blocking Schaivo Bill?
From what I understand, the only place that Terri Schaivo has a chance to get the US Gongress out of her business in through the House. This is because, as I understand, there is no one planning to object in the Senate....WHY!?!?!?!?!?
85% of American's believe she should be allowed to die and congress whould not meddle. Do the Democrats in the Senate actually think her agony should be prolonged? Why are democratic House members the only ones standing up for this girl when the overwhelming majority of ALL people believe that this is all wrong. I am just spinning in confusion right now. When in all the hell are the Democratic Senators going to grow some balls and vote their freaking conscience?!?!?!? Im trough with the Democrats once and for all.

1. Because they are smart enough
to know that it's none of the federal government's business.
Let the pukes cut their own throats.

4. They're also scared of constituents
who saw the cherrypicked video and think Schiavo is capable of feeling anything.

6. So they are going along
with this because they know it will fail? It's all just a tactic? I'm not sure if that is the reason but I hope so because this will move me to the Greens if they just want to look like they are just as repuke as the repukes are once again.

2. The day we remind them they need us to vote for them.
And when will that be?

Right now I'm reluctant, at best, to even bother voting. Doesn't seem to make a difference either way. Some people can whine "Listen to what they say". Uh-huh. Then look and see what they vote for.

If Al "I'm an environmentalist" Gore allowed the horrendous and cheap iPod, then nothing can surprise me anymore. I've had it with their spurious morality. All of them.

(repukes have no morality, and Nader and McGaa of the Greens were also two-faced, nevermind Jesse Ventura's reminder to us all that politicians are in it for THEMSELVES and THEIR INTERESTS before anyone else's. Period. I refuse to waste my time voting for them, for there is no longer any difference.)

8. Thats what boggles my mind
I mean if 9 out of 10 voters think what theyre doing is wrong, you would think that this one time, of all the times the Dems have had an objection, this is the time to stand up and say "You are all f*ing crazy! Leave this case ALONE! Listen to the PEOPLE!" and we would all cheer "Yay, Dems got their balls back! Yaaaayyy!!"...but noooo...they have to continue following their republican masters. Sickening.

I agree, our vote probably doesnt count anyways, but there will come a point when all the people look at each other and realize the minority is getting the majority of votes...the vote fraud can't continue forever (I hope)

12. I swear this day
that if not 1 Democrat Senator or Rep stands up and says that this was decided by the courts in past years.and we the Democratic Party stand by the courts rulings.......

that this family of 10 voters will be registering as Independent voters and vote for Green .........Libertarian parties.....If my reps don't have the guts to stand and defend the courts.then they deserve to be where they are.as in other laws this past week.....this party had better unite.

3. It will take a
Senator or Rep. that is in a safe state or district so that their re-election is not in question, and one with plenty of guts.

But lets also get one thing straight, Terri schiavo is not suffering and will not suffer if her body is starved until it's autonomic functions stop. Terri Schiavo is DEAD already, only her body remains.

10. JUST HEARD: They are blocking the Schiavo Bill
Several Dems are blocking the Bill....CNN just reported...NOW!
Woo HOO, they are not going to be able to vote on the Schiavo Bill....Dems are getting in the way to pass this legislation....Rules are blocking the ability of house Repugs to bring this up because it has become clear to all of them that there will be an objection perhaps several objections, from Dems to bring this bill at this time. Which means the House of Rep, will have to stand down, until Monday....and they are trying to get a vote at 12:01 a.m. the House of Rep have to reconvene to pass this bill, they must get 218 reps to constitute a quorum and also will require 2/3 people present to pass the bill...the house is out on recess and they have required them, where ever they are world wide, to come by bus, car, plane, any way to get to DC...to pass this bill.....OMG..

11. Bill Nelson is up for re-election next year.
He had to go along to get along of course, and the Miami Herald said the Senate Dems thought it was important to go along to get along.

Sorry, those are mostly my words, but there is thread in GD forum that I posted about the article.

I am not a happy camper about this mess. Bill went along on the bankruptcy bill, the war, and just about everything else lately.

do democrats really need to be tarred as Terri Schiavo's murderers? Let the GOP meddle. The courts will not allow their power to be abrogated in this manner.

Napolean once said, "never interrupt your opponent when they are making a mistake" I believe that it applies here.

Also, you swallowed the bankruptcy bill, tort reform, and ANWR, but Terri Schiavo is going to make you leave?

Whatever. Greens and libertarians can only be pure because they have no power, and no chance of gaining any anytime soon.

18. Wow, good point
I like the Napolean quote...definately applies here. I have felt since this came to the congress that this would be the begining of their undoing...more so that those other issues you mentioned because this is something people across ALL party lines agree on. This is only in the congress because of a few EXTREME right wing conservatives that most people really dont relate to, and I think for the first time they are seeing just how extreme they really are.

He is now on Cspan talking about how this administration completely disregards the basis of American Law. It is great. I wish he were a Senator....
Anyways, Ill have this recording of the Democratic house members stating their objections in a news conference on my site later today....very well spoken speeches. Its on CSPAN now.

21. because they know, just like the republicans do,
that the bill will ultimately do nothing. The republicans are just grandstanding in order to appease the religious right. It's not going to change anything, and Democrats would only upset people by stopping it, without any real benefit anyways.

24. Senate Democrats should've stayed out of the way of this 3-ring circus.
The Rethugs don't need our votes to pass anything. Just let them make complete idiots of themselves--they do not need the Democrats' help. Of course, some of the Senate Democrats could not resist jumping into the fray.

Kudos to the House Democrats, including Jim Smith, who is said to be planning a run for governor of Florida in 2006, for having the guts to try and block the Schiavo bill.

Congressman Jim Smith was quoted in today's St. Pete Times as saying, "Florida has a law that is being followed by the judge and the families. This terrible situation is handled by the courts to keep the politics out of it. And what the politicians in Washington are doing is violating this principle by injecting their own personal politics into the situation, without any knowledge of the law."

23. They are missing one of these:

And they think that by pandering to whiney drama-lovers who nothing about this woman's condition that they can scrape a little 'popularity' off the republicans by being just as idiotic and short sighted as the republicans are.

They have NO principles and WILL NOT stand up for what is right, only what appears popular with the teeming masses at any one moment....like say, for instance, invading Iraq on a pretext.
