Anyone watching Bush Implode in his Press Conference Live?
Is there a thread on this, couldn't find anything. He's really coming unhinged. I don't know how long he can go on like this. :scared:

2. drooling, twitching, unhinged how?
He's barely ambulatory as it is, but they kept Reagan propped up and I imagine they'll do the same for the Chimperor.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

Bush: No Timetable for Troops Coming Home
By TERENCE HUNT AP White House Correspondent
The Associated Press -- WASHINGTON Mar 16, 2005

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=586570

---snip---

Bush also reflected philosophically on his role as a second term president, saying he doesn't worry about his place in history or whether he will be vindicated in his efforts to spread democracy throughout the Middle East.

"I just don't worry about vindication or standing. … You've got a lot on your plate on a regular basis. You don't have much time to sit around and wander, lonely in the Oval Office, kind of asking different portraits, 'How do you think my standing will be?'"

"I've got a lot to do."

wonder if the Lincoln portrait tells him to go see a play....

Correct me if I am wrong... but I remember it being over 12,000 in Clinton's term... dropping to under 7,000 under chimp...and now after almost five years climbing just over 10,000 and holding...

How the repugs think they are better for our economy than Democrats is beyond me.

Long "uhhhhhhs" and smirks, and the usual totally off-the-wall comments! right now he is being hammered by some guy about why he doesn't just embed a disclaimer in fake news reports if he's really so concerned about them. He said it was up to the media to do that, then quickly jumped to a friendlier question.

inappropriately, making weird jokes (no one laughed) twitching, pursing his lips in petulance, angry when he got questions about Iran, angry when asked anything which might challenge him. Googly eyes, smirks, looks of panic, frustration, disdain. He was disconnected made mistakes in what he said rambled. Said he saw a poll where Americans agreed with his "Private Accounts" said he doesn't look at the other polls..etc..
:scared:

51. He gets it from Poppy
One of the most frightening things I ever saw was a live press conference during Desert Storm right after Saddam launched SCUD's into Israel.

Israel had dozens of armed aircraft on the tarmac waiting to launch a retaliatory strike against Iraq - which would have blown the whole ME apart.

Poppy was totally incoherent, wild-eyed and jerking around like a meth addict - he was not in control of his faculties.

Luckily, cooler heads in the Pentagon refused to release the Coalition IFF codes to the IAF and the crisis was averted.

When things go bad for the Bushies - they simply can't handle it.

I listened to it on my headphones as I worked, something I've been doing every day for years. C-Span. NPR. Pacifica. I listen. You can pick up more nuances when you have to go by sound and tone and laungage alone. He sounded exactly as you described. He said "we're making progress a dozen times" he just doesn't have any new material for one thing. "I have a lot to do" -- always pronouncing it as a long "a" which reminds me of a second grader reading Cat in the Hat. He's a total fool, I cringe whenever he talks without a script. I hate the sonofabitch.

I was working and didn't see the "conference", but the elbow thing is a pattern I've noticed for a long time. If the "liberal media" has noticed it, they probably attribute it to ** being pensive (yeah, right) or state that hes a "regular guy" who relates to people (who by the way, REALLLY LIKE HIM).

My guess is tht the press was "gannoning" all over him when analyzing his "performance"

Tries to make "jokes".

Enraged at social security questions. Says people ARE supporting his scheme... he knows it because he saw them at his travelling speeches. Puts foot in mouth. Gets angry at reporter's questions about his fake news. Gets defiant. Drinks some water. Cuts off reporter.

Blurts out some nonsense about social security again. Barely concealed anger.

Complains suddenly that there's no oxygen in the room, so for the sake of a healthy press corp and healthy president he's going to end press conference.

Oh.My.God.

121. I wasn't around then
but have studied a lot about that time and have seen movies etc. Nixon may have been a paranoid SOB but at least he knew how to keep up apperances and not make a fool outta himself like W. Looks like W doesn't know how to take pressure so he gets panic attacks. Remember: the thing different between Nixon and Bush is Nixon was involved in politics a long time and didn't have the family name to get around on like Bush. Bush has people who snap up when he snaps his fingers and the media to clean up his messes and ass kiss. Plus he can always call Poppy and Poppy can call in some favors while Nixon just had his administration. This press conference is really telling. He doesn't have a hold on NOTHING and he's cracking. Nothing is working out for him (again). Something will happen soon. Remember how his language changed after 9/11? He went from being a bumbling fool to some tough talk macho man? Here's a video with that: http://homepage.mac.com/njenson/movies/dsbush.html

I think after this press conference Bush won't be doing them anymore until they can get a Gannon replacement without people finding out or something big will happen to make him have his "macho" talk again.

86. no kidding. I think it's called "hypoxia-induced psychosis"
I actually had a bout with this last year -- I was under a lot of stress (teaching 6 different courses, which amounted to 2 lectures per day, moving between campuses). The last straw was when winter came and they shut down the ventilation to heat the buildings up faster. I became physically ill and irrationally afraid of entering one particular (windowless and stuffy) classroom, because of the dread of not being able to breathe. That seeming urge to flee that Bush had? Your thinking brain knows there's enough O2 that you won't suffocate, but your unconscious is in the driver's seat and it's calling the shots!

I thought I was having a mental breakdown, but 2 other faculty members said they were having symptoms too. We all talked to the maintenance staff -- they turned the ventilation system back on, and things were bearable. (Being able to put a name to the condition also helped, in my case -- a medical researcher I know found the documentation for me.)

and he got really uptight and all that. Stewart showed that tonight. Then someone asked about Wolfowitz and he had this attitude like: "you're questioning my decisions? How dare you!" And there was also this little shock in him, I think, where he's realizing maybe the media doesn't really like him. In the past he'd always tell a joke and you can tell they were forcing themselves to chuckle so they could stay in the room.

some fellow democrats giving a conference on the Social Security and they did really well. They talked numbers and facts and answered some question's. I loved how in sync they were with each other and they even have a cute little slogan that's easy to remember. "Fix it, don't nix it." They were also really telling people how the republicans and Bush aren't wanting to sit down with them and talk about this as Ronald Reagan did. They're even using Reagan against them now. :D Nice move. I remember after the "election" Bush promised he'd work with us. Looks like he's not keeping his promise and the democrats are really tooting that horn (as they should).

I've said it before, I'll say it again: the guy has serious health problems. I think he's had at least one stroke and there's some SERIOUS covering up of his real condition.

He's a time bomb. In a way, this is great. It's only MARCH. Of 2005. Just imagine what he's going to be like a year from now. Two years from now.

We've watched him (especially here in Texas) deteriorate and the rate of deterioration seems to be speeding up.

I would normally be sympathetic to someone with serious health problems but he's a warmongering murderer and his administration probably KNOWS what's wrong with him and just keeps propping that bad boy on up there.

They get what they deserve. I just hope it's far worse than what the rest of us have to suffer as a result of those assholes.

After several minutes of gesticulating, snapping at reporters, going from broad smiles to nasty scowls, interrupting his train of thought every few seconds with a few choruses of "mmmmm" "hhhmmmmm" "uuuhhmmmmm", he ended it with his best Sunday smirk and walked toward the model's runway showing off his new suit, doing his little turn on the catwalk.

working for a living is something those northeastern silverspoon blueblooded sociopaths of the bush line have never done.

62. It was embarrassing for *all* self respecting and free thinking Americans
Rove must be beside himself. Really!?! I forced myself to watch the entire thing like one gets drawn into a really bad B rated movie. * had long lapses of blank stares at his audience, then "poof!" someone must have woke him up with the audio feed.

Often times, he'd forget the original question within 10-15 seconds into an answer, then fall back on a related talking point.

There were about 4-5 occasions where * was LOST completely. To cover, he'd go into some inane talking point such as how brave the Iraqi people were to go out and vote.

The only silver lining to this embarrassing if not disgraceful performance that reflects on the American people, is that I'm 100% convinced *'s handlers do NOT want him to ramble on and continue to STAGE these marathon press conferences.

Oh, I just remembered - the happiest (most self-satisfied) * looked was when he'd call out each reporter by name. It was so phony because he'd call out their name without even bothering to look in the general direction of the said reporter. Can we say more "audio feed" and/or "scripted."

The second most egregious behavior was when * would repeatedly blurt out "LISTEN!" I think he was primarily trying to silence the person talking into his audio feed.

This man is so arrogant that it defies all SANE appeals to logic. The press corps were anxious and hyped, laughing at every nuisance and smirk * uttered.

* is a true embarrassment to the American people. How can FOX continue to convince the RW sheeple that he honestly cares defies my imagination.

What a disgusting "dog and pony" show! :puke:

several times and didn't get laughs he was expecting. They chuckled when he made his worst mistakes, but I thought they were kind of silent when he really wanted them to laugh with him.

I was amazed that these reporters could keep a straight face...I would have been :eyes: or :silly: watching this thing.

It must've been awesome to see fearless leader who the republicans all say "he's got balls" crack like this. The whole "listen" thing reminds me of the first debate when he was going to speak and he said "let me finish" out of nowhere when everybody was quiet and letting him talk. (I think Kerry even gave him a "huh?" look)

I taped CNN today - had a feeling, so I just set the timer, and went to work. Watching it now. What the hell, is he stoned? On the same medication as he was during the debates? Is the wire broken? He starts out breathing strangely, as if he just ran a mile or two. Lots of "uh's," sttuttering, etc.

he was going to catch some questions he didn't have good answers to. He didn't look well. When he spoke, it wasn't like before....all confident and loud. He spoke softly and sometimes it was almost a mumble. He didn't try to laugh off as much as he normally does and you know how he gets defensive about SS and the economy? Well he seemed a bit worn out and tired this time.......he knows he's losing and doesn't have the people behind him anymore.

Soon his "base" will jump ship too. They don't hang in very long when they see a wreck coming.

One thing we can for sure count on is a lot of them leaving fearless leader. Sure he'll always have his supporters who will always believe in him and whatnot and blame the liberals but I think any rational republican will leave the moron behind. Some of them have this "high class" feel so when they see a bumbling fool like him they won't wanna be associated with him even if he's a Bush. Poppy won't be able to get him out of this mess I think. Expect a good show these next few months. Popcorn?

or we will never win a thing.. they get more and more emboldend each time they cheat and get away with it. Dont let the bushies and the media get you to wonder why your guy lost.. he didnt, its all to keep America from asking the real questions about the election! ANY discussion that focuses on how we can "win" based on the premise we lostis foolish, the only real questions is how do we force state officals to hold fair elections!

Kerry won.. correct your friends and family... dont let bushes lie about winning take hold (let alone a "mandate", unless hes refering to Guckert!) and dont let them define the arguement... republicans love to talk about what we did wrong and about our '08 candidate and so on... anything but the truth!

170. Exactly. I just smile, look them right in the eyes and ask,
why do you think Bush WON?

Actually took a poll here in SF at a meeting Matt Gonzales had for progressives: "Does anyone here actually think Bush won?"

There were a few hands, but it looked like most people went into that kind of intuitive shock you get when presented with truth. Matt, btw, said he agreed with me.

It was one of his best press conferences, unfortunately. Still bad, but among the best he has done.

The bit about the oxygen was not an anxiety attack or anything even close to one. It was a canned way of getting out of the room, and it worked like a charm. It got a laugh, and out he walked.

Why would him reading be a "story"? Did he not read before? I'm pretty sure he has said a few times he reads (including the Bible which I personally find hard to believe with all his policies). I think with that comment he was trying to sidetrack people and "make nice."

126. "In These Times" agrees he's a dry drunk
Here's the link: http://www.inthesetimes.com/comments.php?id=195_0_4_0_C

Still, Bush’s past battles with the bottle are worth pondering at a time like this, one of the most dangerous in the nation’s history. When a recovering alcoholic begins to engage in what AA calls “stinking thinking,” he or she begins to exhibit the old attitudes and pathologies of their drinking years. These include an increase in anxiety, mild tremors, mild depression, disturbed sleep patterns, inability to think clearly, craving for junk food, irritability, sudden bursts of anger and unpredictable mood swings. According to AA literature, “Boredom and listlessness may alternate with intense feelings of resentment against family and friends, and explosive outbursts of violence.”

For drunks to function for any length of time in the world, they need enablers. Congress is filling that bill splendidly right now for Bush, and has been since January 2001, in fact. As BuzzFlash (www.buzzflash.com) put it about the corporate scandals, “For most of his adult life, those people around him enabled Bush’s alcoholism. Now the Democratic Senate is enabling the corporate corruption problem of his administration by not using their Constitutional powers to demand the truth.”

out. They have it on their site but it just isn't the same as seeing it large on TV screen. Or, maybe you guys with Broadband have better luck with Real Player than I do watching on dial up.

Anyway I suspect they will run it again and maybe this weekend. Warning the part my hubby saw before the VCR tape ran out put him in a terrible mood. So, maybe it's not for everyone. There was only about 15 minutes left on the tape but it was enough for him.
