USANEXTand Bill O'Reilly
The other day I happened to watch an interview on Bill O'Reilly's show, between him and a fellow named Charlie Jarvis, the CEO for a group called USANEXT. It was a pleasant, patty-cake interview, Jarvis saying that his organization was an alternative to AARP, and O'Reilly asking him easy questions, and responding to his answers as if everything was hunky-dory. After all, everybody has a right to their own point of view.
Nothing was said about the genealogy of USANEXT, or its history.Jarvis condemned AARP as being the world's largest left leaning organization, and that it was tricking seniors into supporting its nefarious schemes. And that was that, I thought.
However, I seemed to recall that not all was as it seemed with USANEXT.
First, they are the group that published that slimy anti-AARP ad with the soldier X'ed out and the male homosexual kissing couple with a big check over them, and claiming that the ad reflected AARP's policies. An absolute lie. Then it turns out that USANEXT hired, or is hiring, some of the crew that promulgated the nasty filth of the Swift Boat Veterans, that did so much damage to Kerry's campaign with their lies. So USANEXT, previously known as United Seniors, is not just a patty-cake organization, it's a bunch of fucking nazi-type liars.
I did a little digging around and found this, about USANEXT, an organization that professes to care about seniors, and I quote.

"In the report released today, United Seniors Association: Hired Guns for PhRMA and Other Corporate Interests, Public Citizen reveals how the United Seniors Association (USA) has acted as a shill for major industries, especially pharmaceutical companies, seeking to influence federal policy and elections. This highly partisan organization was criticized for years for its overblown scare tactics in direct-mail fundraising letters. But during the past two years, USA has shifted its emphasis to TV and radio "issue" ads – underwritten by large corporate donations.
"Public Citizen estimates that USA has spent $12 million on issue ads during the past 17 months. The lion’s share of this spending – $9.6 million – was used to promote President Bush and House Republican leaders’ prescription drug plan. Their plan, which is favored by the drug industry, would provide Medicare beneficiaries with subsidies to buy private insurance rather than create a comprehensive drug coverage program through Medicare – the favored proposal of most seniors and consumer groups. This level of spending would make USA the biggest ad buyer in this Congress (2001-2002) – despite the fact that the group appears to not have spent a cent on issue ads during the last election cycle."
This from Common Dreams Progressive Newswire.
So let's hear a rousing FUCK YOU for Bill O'Reilly, Charlie Jarvis, and USANEXT!!!Hypocrites and liars, one and all!

On February 16, Jarvis appeared on FOX News' The O'Reilly Factor, where host Bill O'Reilly introduced the organization as "an alternative senior group to the AARP." Jarvis attacked the AARP, stating: "The problem is, there's never been a tax increase they didn't love, there's never been a tax cut they didn't hate, and they are definitely against traditional values." Asked if his organization is conservative, Jarvis denied it:

JARVIS: No, we are basically a free-market alternative to AARP. Whereas we're the healthy, wealthy and wise organization, they're the tax, tax and spend organization.

O'REILLY: All right. So you're more smaller government, self-reliant. É Well, we're glad you came in because we want the folks to have a choice. They can check you out. They know what the AARP is, and then they can make a decision, and that's -- you know, we report, you decide. That's perfect, right?
