WASHINGTON -- For now, it's strictly amateur hour. But the Condoleezza Rice presidential campaign is up and blogging among true believers already worked up about 2008.

The fact that Rice has come nowhere near voicing interest in the job has not stopped her fans from hitting the Iowa airwaves with ads and forming a committee to advance the cause.

"We're not the Karl Roves that Dr. Rice deserves," Miami physician Richard Mason, chairman of the committee, said of the amateurs now steering the effort. "But I think for right now we are doing pretty well."

The movement has stickers and state chairs, purpose and passion.

"I like Condoleezza Rice because she is full of grace, because she loves America, because she uses her race not to attack whites and conservatives but to remind us of the uniquely American quality of social mobility," says a recent posting on a pro-Rice site. "And, let's face it, she's drop-dead beautiful."

Also, for better or for worse, there is a song: "Condoleezza Will Lead Us."
