Undecideds: what are your top picks at this point in time?
I was just wondering how you guys are measuring the candidates and why. I'm aware some of you are already decided so maybe this is best for the undecideds like me. I don't know if we need to place them in order but I think it would be interesting to know how others are thinking. I do realize, though, that we are political junkies and we sometimes don't decide like the average Joe who only watches the mainstream media!

For me right now it's Edwards, Clark, Dean, Kucinich & Kerry. I'm not sure what order because:

For jobs, nursing/healthcare (which serve my own interests as an RN) I would vote Kerry, Dean or Edwards

For anti-Patriot act, anti-IWR, foreign policy I would vote for Kucinich, Dean? or Clark.

For anti-globalization it would be Kucinich.

For fiscal responsibility it would be Dean.

For anti-media monopoly it would be Dean or Kucinich.

For the environment it would have to be Kerry or Kucinich.

For college education I would vote for Edwards, Clark, Kucinich or Kerry.

These are all important issues for me so it makes me balk at any one candidate because they differ in all those areas!!!! I want to make one or the other issue more important but I can't seem to do it! Does anybody else fall into indecision because of these things?

1. Short reply now, maybe more later....
ABB!!!

I was so pleased with turnout in Iowa, #s of 1st time caucus goers, that I'm just encouraged that Bushco is 1 term!

I'm Dean, Kerry, Edwards, Clark.... undecided and it doesn't matter!

2. Undecided
I don't know, at first I liked Dean, but he is beginning to annoy me. It seems like he is frequently putting his foot in his mouth. The sad thing is, my husband and I understand what he is saying when he makes statements like the middle class didn't benefit from the tax cut, the Confederate flag remark, etc. But most people don't get it and I worry that it will play poorly in the general election.

3. Clark, Edwards, Kerry (alphabetical order)
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 08:12 PM by Greyskye
Up to about a week ago, I would have included Dean in that list, but one of my criteria that I have to consider is electability. And as much as I agree with Dean on quite a few issues; I simply don't feel that Dean has the electability factor. I realize that this has as much to do with media spin as it does with personality, but that's how I see it. IMHO, of course.

Clark has actually dropped to the bottom of my list due to the recent SoA remarks, but I haven't written him off yet.

Kerry has impressed me more as I see more of him. I thought that his response to the SOTU speach last night was excellent.

Edwards has some of that JFK energy and positive message that I like as well.

There is only one candidate that I actively dislike, and he doesn't appear to have a chance at this point.

4. Take this quiz and see which candidate is your match
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 09:37 PM by doc03
I ran across this today, haven't seen it on DU. On this link you take a quiz and it supposedly tells you which candidate best matches your views. http://www.presidentmatch.com/Main.jsp2?cp=main

My match: Kerry 100%
Kucinich 98%
Dean 93%
Clark 90%
Sharpton 89%
Edwards 88%
Lieberman 79%
Bush 32%

All I know for sure is I won't vote for Bush. Of the Democrats I am undecided, could go for Kerry, Edwards or maybe Clark I think they are the only ones that are electable.

5. Good quiz, thanks!

That's great, thanks!
According to this, my match ranking is:

1 Kucinich Score: 100%
2 Kerry Score: 92%
3 Sharpton Score: 89%
4 Dean Score: 87%
5 Clark Score: 84%
6 Edwards Score: 83%
7 Lieberman Score: 70%

This was helpful, and it looks like I'll start throwing more support to Kerry.
