Does Mark Dayton stepping down open it up to Al Franken?
Edited on Thu Feb-10-05 09:18 AM by T Roosevelt
Rumours are constantly swirling that Al is thinking of running for office in Minnesota. Now that Dayton has decided not to run, will Franken throw his hat into the ring?

On edit: I guess I'm a minute ahead of Unfiltered, and he'll be making an announcement on his show today...

1. On Air America now...
The Unfiltered hosts say that Franken will make an "announcement" of some sort during today's show.

2. Please don't hate me(I love Al Franken), but...
AAR needs a better host in that time slot. He is funny and on our side, but his personality as a radio host is kinda raw.

3. I love Franken, but I think I'd trade him for Thom Hartmann

7. I would trade Franken for Heartmann
But I would gladly trade Randi for him. I love it when is fills in for her.

5. The problem with that is that Al's AAR's biggest draw, and
he's important while they're still growing. In a couple of years, perhaps, they'd be able to find someone else, but they need him now.

For the record, I don't agree with you. He's not the greatest radio personality of all time, but he's learning and he's so damned funny.

4. Let's hope not.
I think Dayton would even be stronger than Franken. I don't see Al Franken doing well outside the liberal communities. We need a strong statewide candidate.

6. I agree
I love Franken, but he hasn't lived here in 30 years. He'd have to move back now in order to have any kind of chance at all. Besides, he's said he's a "DLC Democrat" (don't shoot me -- I heard him say that in an interview) and that won't hold much truck around here.
