It's about his love of the Japanese police :)

Edit to add lyrics..."In the palm of my hand...let me roll it" ???

Hmmm...

You gave me something, I understand,
You gave me loving in the palm of my hand
I can’t tell you how I feel
My heart is like a wheel
Let me roll it
Let me roll it to you
Let me roll it
Let me toll it to you

I want to tell you
And now’s the time
I want to tell you that
You’re going to be mine

I can’t tell you how I feel
My heart is like a wheel.
Let me roll it
Let me roll it to you
Let me roll it
Let me roll it to you

Lennon said it was about a magazine he saw that he found somewhat disturbing...like a Guns & Ammo kinda thing, and the caption was "Happiness is a Warm Gun."

But yeah, I can see how you would get that, if you were prone to Freudian over-analysis.

Heroin also figures in pretty prominently...

---------------

She's not a girl who misses much
Do do do do do do- oh yea!
She's well acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand
Like a lizard on a window pane

The man in the crowd with the multicoloured mirrors
On his hobnail boots
Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy
Working overtime
A soap impression of his wife which he ate
And donated to the National Trust

I need a fix 'cause I'm going down
Down to the bits that I left uptown
I need a fix cause I'm going down
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun

Happiness is a warm gun
Happiness is a warm gun, momma
When I hold you in my arms
And I feel my finger on your trigger
I know nobody can do me no harm
Because happiness is a warm gun, momma
Happiness is a warm gun
-Yes it is.
Happiness is a warm, yes it is...
Gun!
Well don't ya know that happiness is a warm gun, momma?

Ali got in trouble because he made some anti-papist remarks as well as very hostile remarks about interracial sex....

But that was a long time ago and he mellowed after rejecting the Nation Of Islam for conventional Islam...

Also, the interview with Dolly Parton was a hoot where she intimated she lost her virginity at thirteen or so...

31. My bet is on "Live and Let Die"
A real crowd pleaser, and lyrics that are somewhat symbolic of our "Culture of Life"* era of W v.2.0...
*(Orwellian-speak for CULTURE OF DEATH...)

Live and Let Die lyrics:
When you were young and your heart was an open book,
You used to say live and let live.
(You know you did, you know you did, you know you did.)
But if this ever changing world in which we live in,
Makes you give in and cry...
Say live and let die.
(Live and let die.)
Live and let die.
(Live and let die.)

What does it matter to you?
When you got a job to do you gotta do it well.
You've got to give the other fella hell.

You used to say live and let live.
(You know you did, you know you did, you know you did.)
But if this ever changing world in which we live in
Makes you give in and cry,
Say live and let die.
(Live and let die.)
Live and let die.
(Live and let die.)

Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 05:28 PM by coreystone
Even the revered "John Lennon" attributed the McCartney song "YESTERDAY" as being the one of the best songs Paul had written. Though the "catalogue" of songs which were written during the active "Beatles" times were published by "MACLEN" publishing, there were usually songs which were primarily Paul or John; YESTERDAY was one of them. That is the idea of a "songwriting team"!

YESTERDAY
by Paul McCartney and John Lennon

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they’re here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly, I’m not half the man I used to be,
There’s a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

Why she had to go I don’t know she woldn’t say.
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Mm mm mm mm mm.

38. It doesn't matter which name went first, ...
The publishing was "MACLEN"! The published "sheet music" was "John Lennon and Paul McCartney"! I, inadvertantly and accidently inverted the alphabetical order of the credits. My sincere apologies! I can tell by your post that you may have the tenderness in you heart to forgive my accidental "revisionist" error. It was my error! Neither Paul, nor John were saints, I am certanly not either. It definately seems to be a a very contrite and assuming issue which you have posted.

It has been a beautiful day in Vermont; over 60 degrees and a clear blue sky.

Be sure to judge correctly in your devine connections!

Truly,

coreystone

54. It's just lame of him to change their deal after John died.
Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 06:22 PM by tasteblind
And I wasn't mad at you, Corey.

I just hate that Paul has apparently succeeded in getting people to start reconsidering the order of the songwriting credits in the Lennon-McCartney songbook.

It is lame revisionism, and honestly, it's kind of greedy...after all, John can't continue touring and making money for his kids, so one would think Paul wouldn't gripe about the order and the royalty split.

But he's out there re-mixing Let It Be, changing the order of songwriting credits, and if you've seen the Anthology, he rambles on and on excitedly...it's clear he's the one that wanted to tell the story.

Apparently the irony of not letting Let It Be be is totally lost on him.

I love Paul, and I think he's one of the five best songwriters in human history.

I also think he has a tendency to be a complete tool from time to time, and I'm sure his former bandmates would back me up there.

Edit to note: It might help if I mention that John and Paul had a deal where they would do their songwriting as "Lennon-McCartney." Paul recently decided to change Yesterday's credit in his recent live album taken from his 2002 tour, sparking much controversy in Beatle circles and raising the ire of Yoko.

Paul said it's his song, but Lennon didn't mind giving Paul credit on "I Am The Walrus" or "Revolution." I think it's pretty lame. It's not like John can say anything about it.

Regardless of whatever he did to the kids, he deserves whatever he gets just based on that.
