Bush* stepped out of the limo! What bravery!

Actually, I didn't watch the show, but when I went down to check my mail, someone told me that he'd stepped out of his limo and waved. That takes courage! What did he have, 17,000 troops protecting him? The greatest security ever so that he could step out of his limo?

No wonder there was so much concern about security. To pull off a stunt like that takes helicopters, missiles, a lockdown, homeland security funds, who knows how many different types of protective forces--if he'd stayed inside the damned car he probably could have shored up Social Security forever with the money we'd have saved.

Come to think of it, how many troops did we use when we originally invaded Iraq? As many as were needed for the un-auguration?

1. He stepped out of the limo ...
in the section that required people to have tickets and the only way you could purchase a ticket is if you were on the list of people who donated to the B/C campaign. It's easy to be brave when the people surrounding you are hand-picked. :eyes:

13. Even after he got out, he kinda hovered right behind the bumper & ...
the car right behind him. Whyever would the Fearless Blunder think he needed to have a shield from his admirers?
It was a SHORT walk, on top of that!

2. I quite agree is all I can say.
And when he stepped out (I watched it), you could tell that they had make sure only the pro-Bushiest of the pro-Bushiest were in that area, along with an army, literally, an army of security (snipers all over, blah..blah..blah). He must know that he is really well-liked.

I have to confirm, but I heard on an earlier thread that he could be heard asking the agents to stay close to him or something.

3. He only stepped out when he was in friendly territory
One street lined with protestors...he stayed in the car. Turn the corner into "we love dubya land", he gets out and walks. The crowd there was chanting "Four More Years". Can someone please tell them to find something new to say? He's in, shut the fuck up!!!

4. fairly un-brave
when considering the number of security personnel and the fact that everyone lining the parade route where he got out was probably pre-screened and like at his campaign rallies. not a chance in hell these guys took the risk that there would be one negative sign, sight or comment made within hundreds of feet of him and pickels....

14. no "probably" about it... it was deep in the "Bushlands"
where he dared to put his feet on the street. The great unwashed had been penned into an area around 13th Street.

16. Security was a fucking joke!
First, I felt bad for these people doing the security check. They had tents setup for security and these poor people were stuck in them for hours on end with no heat and not even any sunshine, which if you were standing in it did help out a lil bit. They were basically stuck in these walk-in freezer type of things. Of course if you got stuck on frisking detail you couldn't wear gloves either. I was chatting some with the lady who frisked me and I asked if she would be getting overtime. She just rolled her eyes in misery.

So I got separated from the 4 guys I was with because the lines were separated by the sexes (that way only women frisked women, men frisked men). The woman who was ahead in line with me was an elderly lady who had a strange scooter device used to help move an injured leg along (her leg was bent into this scooter and she would walk with one leg & scoot with another. Well the 4 guys in my group got through their line quickly but I was stuck about 10 minutes behind this poor lady and her leg scooter because security had no clue what to do about the scooter. They looked over this scooter like he held the key to life, the universe and the secrets to finding WMDs. They made this lady (and she had to be in her 60's) get her leg out of the scooter (which the leg looked to be strapped in there pretty tight) so they could look over this scooter like a NASCAR fan looks over Jeff Gorden's car. Of course this poor lady is standing there balanced on 1 foot while they check out her leg to make sure nothing was ill-be-gotten with that. I mean geez - she's a fricking grandmother let the woman through the line.

Gratefully my group waited for me
