I am withholding comments until the Dean/DNC thing gets a little clearer.

Dean = DNC chair = $$ (maybe)

Otherwise - no deal.

1. I'm done giving them money.
After the whole front-loaded primary thing basically rid us of any choices except the one they hand-picked from the beginning, I wrote them and said no more money. Ever.

3. Here's what it says:

Dear XXXX,
"What are you going to do on Inauguration Day?" At least in Washington, that's a question you hear Democrats asking one another as George W. Bush's inaugural celebration approaches. Do you want to know my answer?

Join the million-strong Democrats who are standing up to fight for what we believe in.

I'm going to stand with over a million grassroots Democrats who have entered 2005 with a fighting spirit by renewing their 2005 financial support for the Democratic Party in advance of January 20.
Look, we Democrats can either swallow all of the Republicans' malarkey about "the people have spoken" and go hide in a corner somewhere. Or we can fully embrace the grassroots power that we so clearly demonstrated in 2004. Renew your support today at:

President Bush has already made plain what he means by "cooperation." He tells us what to do and we're supposed to cooperate. So now, it's time to tell the President what we think of his bullying political tactics and his dangerous second-term agenda.
Let's come out of the gate fast in 2005. So fast that the Democratic National Committee will have a million people who have renewed their support in the new year before Bush is sworn in on January 20. Be one of the million who stepped forward. Act right now.

Together, we'll stand strong in the face of Republican efforts to stack the Supreme Court and the rest of the federal courts with right-wing ideologues. We'll stop the Republicans from making huge tax cuts permanent for the wealthiest Americans, while they ignore the economic needs of America's working families.
We'll act together to protect Social Security from reckless Republican plans to turn it into a stock market gamble while adding over a trillion dollars to the already skyrocketing Bush budget deficits. We'll stand up for civil rights and civil liberties, for a woman's right to choose, and for every American's right to enjoy clean air and clean water unspoiled by reckless polluters.
Look, Bush and the Republicans can only get their way in 2005 if we Democrats forget our own power. They only win if we choose to stop fighting. But if we stick together, we can transform American politics.
You and I both know how important a year 2005 is going to be. George Bush and the Republicans are going for broke. They know that a second-term President has no more than 18 months to force his agenda through -- and they won't waste a minute.
If we let them, they'll weaken economic security at home and weaken America's most important alliances abroad. They'll stack the courts, abuse the legislative process and change the rules whenever they see fit.
These people are playing for keeps, and we better do the same. This is no time to hold back. We've got to fight forward with every ounce of energy we have. Renew your support today.

James Carville
P.S. Remember, we need at least 1 million activists to step forward in the next eight days. That's more than a thousand committed grassroots Democrats for every plush limousine, chock full of smug special interest lobbyists, that will be gliding through Washington during the Bush inaugural. It's our country, not theirs, and we will never let them win.

4. Why do you need
Edited on Wed Jan-12-05 12:07 PM by KCabotDullesMarxIII
to pay extra money to get them to what they should be doing, anyway: their job? Fighting unremittingly, tooth and nail, with the conventional resources already at the disposal of oppositions, as well as incumbents.

What has Carville been doing lately? I seem to remember some posts reporting very ambiguous positions taken by him recently. Please tell me I'm mistaken. He's not gone Republican-lite, "middle of the road", where people get run over.

If Kerry asked, giving a few specifics, I'd be persuaded of the cause.

6. DNC and "fight" in the same sentence..
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 08:39 PM by sendero
... just doesn't scan.

All I've seen the DNC fighting is any change in the party's status quo.

No dollars for you guys until I have a glimmer of a hope that you have a bit of a clue what "fight" means.
