Poll question: Who is aware that the DNC Chair appoints people who determine issues?
Edited on Wed Jan-12-05 01:27 AM by genius
Yes, if the DNC chair doesn't want to get rid of NAFTA, he just needs to appoint committee chairs and members who will back NAFTA. If the DNC Chair likes the death penalty, he can appoint people who will support the death penalty. It is not easy to undo committee recommendations. If the DNC chair wants a middle class tax increase or for Yucca to proceed, it will.

2. That's strange, someone came to this site earlier
Telling us that the only thing the DNC chair did was develop strategy. I hope he reads this and changes his recommendation.

Exactly who he would appoint and all of that. A link. I know part is true, but what you have seems too much.

4. Ask anyone in the DNC.
Unless they don't know anything about the organization to which they belong, they should be able to fill you in.

5. He does not make these recommendations
...or appointments in a vacuum, though. There's a lot of give and take between the membership, especially the old war horses. It is more of a consensus and team building exercise. Any Chair that goes off half cocked is going to get deep sixed in a hurry.

6. The members generally just accept the chairman's appointments
It's one of those situations where people don't want to lose their next appointment by making waves and complaining when they don't get appointed to a committee.

7. and you are not going to get a DNC chair who wants to get rid of NAFTA
nor should they want that. The idea is to make NAFTA answer to labor and environmental concerns to level the playing field.
