Poll question: How Many Times Have You Changed Which Candidate You Support?
Edited on Tue Jan-20-04 06:19 AM by arwalden
Follow up: Did the result of Iowa's caucuses cause you to change the candidate you're supporting... or does it reinforce and reaffirm your current choice?

1. Once
From Clark to Edwards. Clark is still a very close second choice though, followed by Kerry.

4. I've been a Kucinich supporter since I first read his "Prayer for
America" two years ago, i.e., before he announced. Dennis hasn't changed his heart or his mind, so why should I?

5. I had to narrow down the field
At first it was:

1.Kucinich
2.Dean
3.Sharpton
3.Braun

When I heard that line of "finish the job" I narrow down to:

1.Kucinich
2.Sharpton

After an online article confirmed a pattern of behavior, I was down to Kucinich.

6. Once, Dean was my first, until Kucinich joined the race...
I read Kucinich's Prayer For America soon after it was delivered. Kucinich was what I hoped for in a candidate, but he was not running. Then he decided to run after being drafted and he became my first choice.

Dean has since dropped down near the bottom of my list.

8. Zero, Edwards is the only one with the threat of greatness
And I firmly believe in '04 only someone extremely special can defeat an incumbent with as many monetary and fear-based advantages as GW will have.

Kerry, I'm afraid, might need a semi-forfeit by Bush. Not likely.

I questoned my Edwards choice briefly after his early campaign doldrums, but understood the calendar and remembered my assessment the first time I saw him in '98. A political freak, like seeing Seattle Slew or Spectacular Bid as a two-year-old.

9. Once
Started out supporting Dean after he announced; for his bush bashing.
Switched to Kerry last spring; for his experience and integrity...expecially that he does not accept PAC money!

10. Dean all the way
I settled on Dean in November (out of undecided between Dean, Clark and Kerry) and I'm still there today.

11. For CLARK since he entered race !
Before that I was not sure who to support ? I could not believe Al Gore was sitting this one out and thought his decision to come out early and endorse Dean was wrong . I have a strong feeling President Clinton will endorse Clark ,however he has enough sense to let the people show how strongly they support any nominee,B/4 he puts his endorsement for Clark,to give Clark a little boost. I now believe that Clark is the best bet for a win in 2004 !

12. Three times
I supported Dean briefly, then Edwards, then Kerry briefly, then back to Edwards. I found all I liked in the other candidates in Clark. I am a firm Clark supporter now.

14. Mild non-serious interest in Dean, then Kerry (grudgeinly), then Clark
Edited on Tue Jan-20-04 08:39 AM by gore-is-my-president
Dean very much piqued my interest but after reading up on him - I became concerned because so many experts were concerned about his electability so I decided that I would have to support Kerry. I was not happy with Kerry's decision on the IWR but I somewhat understood it. Once Clark came in - I was relieved that there was another anti-war candidate in the race - and one who could win. When I saw Clark speak and heard about how liberal he was on the issues - that was it for me...

18. Edwards to Clark
We had previously donated to the Edwards campaign, but once Clark entered the race, we decided he represented the issues we wanted to stand behind, and had the foreign policy experience to repair our image.

We still love Edwards, and look for good things in NH. We were thrilled to see him bounce back!

20. I've been hoping Kerry would run for President for ten years.
So, no, I haven't changed my mind and won't be anytime soon.

21. Started with Kerry, switched to Dean after Kerry sold out.
I once thought that Kerry would make a fine president. How very wrong I was. He has no chance of getting my vote. Ever.
