I Thought it was a little weird that Gary Webb shot himself in the head
multiple times !!!

Assassination of US Investigative Journalist Gary Webb? What a weekend for conspiracy theory! I don't know where to begin. Why not with Gary Webb? Yesterday I wrote about Potential Witness Syndrome, one symptom of which is "suicide by multiple gun shot wounds to the head". This is apparently exactly what Gary Webb died of (watch as the stories are refined to change 'wounds' to 'a gunshot wound').

Webb was one of the premier investigative journalists in the United States, and author of the classic book "Dark Alliance: The CIA, the Contras, and the Crack Cocaine Explosion", a book that everyone should read, both for its content and as an model of how to do investigative reporting. The disgusting American press did a hack job on him, claiming that he overstated his case, an outright lie which you can see if you read his book.

He was meticulous in defining his thesis, which was that the CIA turned a blind eye to the selling of crack in Los Angeles because proceeds from the sales were used to fund the Contras in Nicaragua. This thesis was true, but was deeply embarrassing to the CIA and other journalists who failed to cover the story. It was a particularly dangerous idea because it demonstrated what a crock of shit the war on drugs is, with the U. S. government allowing extremely destructive drug sales - and drug sales which were particularly destructive to one racial group - in the United States when such sales suited it for other political purposes.

The San Jose Mercury News shamed itself by failing to stand up for Webb when he was attacked, and effectively constructively dismissed him by assigning him to the boondocks. Webb's death is just another nail in the coffin of investigative journalism, and thus democracy, in the United States.

What he was working on that led to his being suicided?

1. As a nurse who has seen too many failed suicides by gun
I can pretty much guarantee that even if they miss (which is what happens when they get their courage up with alcohol), there is only one shot to a customer.

This whole thing stinks out loud. I know he'd been working on the psyops the military is doing on high school kids, video games and all. There must've been something else he'd uncovered.

He will be sorely missed.

2. I thought a recoil effect could cause 2 wounds, depending
on the calibre of the gun.

Though, I seriously have my suspicions about Mr. Webb's death.

4. he was working on a story about
the army video games for kids. the story was posted earlier on tuesday. quite a damaging article about training future killers for the army..it could be why he "died"

5. you can count on this being shuffled away
Investigative reporters don't have a death wish they just get iced by the power structure. So what is the news today ? we got your murder case that involves some zeros, next up Micheal Jackson part 8 to get the public at the water cooler and coffee machine to blab about a nice diversion from whats going on.

7. You don't say how many times Webb is alleged to have

shot himself. I knew someone who was able to put two bullets in his head and still be walking around between shots and for a bit after the second, fatal shot.

I also know someone who put a bullet through his head playing Russian roulette and wears the slug, which the police dug out of the ceiling after it went right through his head, on a chain around his neck. He wasn't even hospitalized more than a day or so, if I remember correctly.

I'm not arguing that Webb shot himself, but I wouldn't argue that he couldn't have shot himself more than once if I were arguing that he didn't kill himself. Multiple head shots by a suicide are possible, if unlikely. If the first shot doesn't kill or immobilize you, you would either decide to quit or persevere in carrying out your death wish, depending on your pain threshold, determination, whatever.
