3. He said
he had a good day in South Carolina yesterday...

said he can't worry about Kerry campaign...he's in NH working with the voters

Bob Dole is giving Clark a bad time about Kerry..

Clark said he';s a General, Kerry's a Lt.

5. Clark v. Dole
wow.

Clark looks like he wants to headbutt Bob Dole.

Clark said something along the lines that "kerry's the liutenant and he's the general"

Clark seemed a bit off to me.

24. I thought Clark was a bit off, too.
Dole sniped at him and although Clark aggresively defended himself, it came off a bit too defensively to me. First time I've ever seen that in him. His cool, rational and intelligent demeaner has always appealed to me.

Hey, all that Kerry has to sell is his 30 year old bio about a man that he no longer is. Clark is a better bet than Kerry. Clark is smarter, braver, and has a capacity to learn that Kerry seriously lacks.

47. I wouldn't underestimate Kerry
IMHO Kerry may not beat "*" as readily as Clark, he can beat bush, it'll be interesting to see if Kerry's noticed that his numbers rose as soon as he started taking the high road like Clark and focused on his positive points.

If nothing else, what tonight showed us all, was that anger doesn't sell, and I predict all the candidates noticed it, so I think we'll see a milder run from all candidates.

Buh-By bush.

And then there were none!

I expect stories about Clark being a republican (from Kerry & Co) and about Clark having "integrity issues" during his military career (from Karl Rove).

8. This is fun!
Dole tried to tell him he was going to be the big "loser" in NH because of Kerry's win. Boy he lit right back. Then Dole says he's now a Corporal of campaigning. And he lit right back again. Kerry's the Lt and he's the General. It was fun and good nature. I hope Kerry sticks to that kind of debate, for the most part, because it'll be a wonderful thing to watch.

Hey...Bob Dole said he supported Gen. Clark...in Kosovo, that is. That's a heckuva lot more than most of his erstwhile Repub colleagues on the Hill were saying in 1999!

Hmm...Ya can't beat getting Michael Moore, George McGovern, and Bob Dole inside of two days!:eyes:

16. Dole/Clark clash
Edited on Mon Jan-19-04 09:49 PM by BeyondGeography
Dole tried to say Clark would lose big in NH because of Kerry's win and Clark wouldn't have any of it.

Basically said Kerry's a foreign policy lightweight compared him (Clark). Also said Americans want "new leadership." Sounds like the outsider card will be played.

The General was feisty! Dole called Clark a political colonel, compared with Kerry being a political General. Clark said Kerry's a lieutenant, and I'M the General.

Dole kept trying to talk over Clark, but the General wouldn't have any of it. Talked right over him.

Got an insight into Clark tonight. He's not going to back down from any political fight.

46. please tell us specifically
how his comments were a joke. The "demoted to a colonel" comment came as a defence of Clark replying to Doles comment of "Well, i dont have a question, but to point something out i think Kerry is the big winner and i think, and im sorry, that makes you a loser" intro to the conflict. Furthermore, for you to question my understanding of the situation with a rudimentary perception on it is ironic.

50. Dole was definitely rude...
but that is his job as the Republican hack analyst. I didn't take it as a joke, but it gave Clark another chance to show how he isn't going to take anything sitting down. He charged at him, and it was awesome! And...he did it all with a smile! That may be why anyone would see it as a lighthearted exchange. Dole wasn't joking, in my opinion. He was trying to chop Clark off at his knees. Your Dole quote is exactly what he said. He called Kerry a winner and Clark a loser. Anyway, Clark handled it perfectly!
Also, I thought Dole looked kind of old and shaky. I hadn't seen him in awhile.
