Jean Chretien in 1995, when he introduced Bill Clinton to speak before Parliament.....Clinton laughed so hard I thought he was going to fall off his chair....and Clinton got standing ovations during and after his speech...Another thing, Bush said "I know it's not easy sleeping next to an elephant"...He got that line from P.M. Pierre Trudeau when he said jokingly that being a neighbour of the United States was "like a mouse sleeping next to an elephant. When the elephant rolls over you feel every twitch"...
By the way....he seemed to be expecting applause throughout his speech....He didn't get it....Mostly just polite applause at the end.
