Shrimp Boat Liars Weigh Next Step...As Veteran Advocates?? (no joke)
The controversial veterans group that trashed the war record of Democratic Sen. John Kerry during the presidential campaign and helped hand President Bush a second term will remain a potent force, according to an associate of the group.

Chris LaCivita, who was a paid political consultant to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth during the campaign but said he is no longer on the payroll, asserted that the organization, with 280 members nationwide, is pondering its next step.

One possibility is that the Swiftvets will become a full-time public-relations outfit for veterans, LaCivita said.

The Kerry-Edwards campaign filed a complaint against the Swiftvets with the Federal Election Commission, but LaCivita said many conservatives are disgusted with what they see as a left-wing caricature of U.S. soldiers in Vietnam as “crazed hippies that went around mowing people down.”

1. Why not? They would like to appear credible.
And they will have the money coming in from vets that believed their lies. You can also see there is going to be the same fallout from the Iraq War. The shooting in the mosque has people already splitting without a single fact having been determined. They covered up atrocities for Nixon, why not for B$$$?

7. [email protected]
I am a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer who abhors the ignorance and total lack of core values exhibited by these bastards. I would appreciate you sending them a note telling them of your disdain. I have emailed them on occasion and like the cowards they are, I have yet to receive a response.

One question I have yet to resolve; are these conservative bastards sad that the Vietnam War is over? Is the monument not big enough for them?

This veteran will take care of himself and his fellow honorable veterans. I don't need republican pawns "advocating" for me.

12. Got any additional suggestions?
Thanks to SBVFT, we're stuck with a rising body count, loss of health coverage for hundreds of thousands of children, a truly acrimonious political climate, and much worse.

In a just world, John O'Neill would be forever associated with the disgraced Richard Nixon. What can we do to guarantee this is what he gets?

14. I emailed Time Magazine nominating O'Neill
as their Person of the Year. They cited Hitler in the 30's for the planetary ruination he caused. I told them O'Neill's similar actions should not go unrecognized. www.time.com. Make this vet proud.

17. Apparently, not enough of our soldiers died there.
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 11:29 PM by Old and In the Way
I wish someone would have asked them a simple question and demanded an answer to the following

How many more Americans needed to die in Nam before they would have joined Kerry in protesting the war? Was their threshold 100,000? 250,000? 500,000?

Their dishonesty is disgusting. If Bush had Kerry's record of honorable service and Kerry had gone AWOL, would they have supported Bush? Hmmmmm.

Kerry's only problem was that he happens to have won his medals as a Democrat. What these pricks have done is helped to destroyed the fabric that makes up this great country. No one bleeds Democratic or Republican blood in war....

13. Maybe not
When the Iraq clusterfuck gets too big for the public to ignore, a band of camera-hogging Vietnam bitter-enders would be really useful for Bush.

19. Yes, this hate group may be useful to the repugs.
They like to portray themselves as "victims." Victims of the liberals who prevented them from winning the Vietnam War. They may be a useful tool for the war profiteers who want no end to war.

Don't let them convince you to lose Iraq!!! I can hear it now.

In 4 years, we'll be hearing all about those Vietnam McDonald's and how the Swift Boat Vets saved Vietnam from Communism.

15. Just e-mailed the liars.
The last thing this country needs is a group like that. THEY GOT AWAY WITH IT. THE WHORESON LIARS GOT AWAY WITH IT.

And in case you think Bush has any regrets about such a sleazy technique, consider the joke he made at the pardoning of the Thanksgiving turkey: a reference to Barnyard Animals for Truth. Nice. He gets into office after smearing at least three veterans (McCain, Gore, Kerry) and then brings it up for a little joke in front of the kids. What a nasty piece of work he is.

20. Perfect! Swiftvets: Vets Don't Need No Stinking Healthcare!
Us Vets don't need no stinking healthcare, we don't need no pensions. Keep calling us back to active duty, we like that. Lie to us about the reasons for war - it's a good thing. Vets like whatever George Bush does, no matter how bad it might appear to hurt us. We bow to Our Leader.

22. If they were going to advocate for veterans
they missed one already.

JOHN KERRY!

Shit, John Kerry is the best friend a veteran never knew he had (present company excepted of course.) The only thing these people know about advocating veterans is putting ribbons on their SUVs. Advocating veterans means not wasting their service on a needless war. Advocating veterans means taking care of them when they get home, mentally and physically.

This daughter of a Machinist Repair Chief doesn't need them within ten feet of veterans issues. They missed their chance. They smeared the man who would have taken care of their brethren. If they could manage to read his old testimony all the way through THEY'D KNOW THAT!

Oh, aneurysm.

23. Like O'Neill did, Kerry should have told his comrades to FUCK OFF AND DIE.
When the US Congress heard about the Winter Soldiers Testimony, they DEMANDED the soldiers & testimony appear before Congress.

Those SOLDIERS ASKED KERRY to represent them.

Kerry agreed to do so and NOT ONCE EVER has Kerry said ANYTHING against the soldiers, and that is just FACT that ANYONE who bothers to read the ENTIRE CONGRESSIONAL TESTIMONY TRANSCRIPT would know to be 100% FACT.

KERRY WAS STUPID.

KERRY should have done what O'Neill did; KERRY SHOULD HAVE SAID FUCK OFF AND DIE to his brothers-in-arms. Kerry should have said NO to his fellow comrades who asked him to represent them before Congress.

Kerry should have just WALKED AWAY from them all; he should have JUST LET MORE SOLDIERS CONTINUE TO DIE in the killing fields of Vietnam...LIEK O'NEILL DID. After all, LIKE O'NEILL, Kerry was safely out of Vietnam, so he, LIKE O'NEILL DID, should have TURNED HIS BACK on his fellow soldiers left behind.

Kerry shouldn't have tried to stop more soldiers from dying by trying (successfully) to stop the Vietnam war which as ALL EDUCATED & INFORMED Americans now know was another war based on a pack of LIES.

Yep, if Kerry had DONE WHAT O'NEILL DID AND IGNORED HIS FELLOW SOLDIERS, if Kerry had TURNED HIS BACK on his brothers-in-arms LIKE O'NEILL DID, then Kerry's service, heroism, patriotism and ribbons, ALONG WITH EVERY SOLDIER'S SERVICE, HEROISM, PATRIOTISM AND MEDALS, wouldn't now be subject to the MOCKING & RIDICULE from rightwingnut bitches & bastards who sport "purple bandaids" for fun.

KERRY SHOULD HAVE DONE AN O'NEILL AND SAID "FUCK OFF, I'M SAFE SO SCREW YOU AND KEEP ON DYING" to his fellow soldiers & veterans.

Too bad Kerry had the DECENCY AND GUTS to NOT do an O'Neill.

Is this going to be a group qualifying for federal money so the taxpayers can reward them for helping B$$$? Will it be like faith based iniatives to reward the fundie supporters?
