Anyone have ideas about how we can take back radio air?
It is sickening down here in SW Florida. There only talk stations are Rush Limbaugh, Tammy Bruce, and a bunch of other Conservative creeps who's names I can't remember. I usually just turn it off even though I really like talk radio. Of course we only have 2 stations on AM with talk radio.

I REALLY think these bimbos have an effect on people. A friend of mine from NJ said she was thinking about voting for Bush because "all the radio people favor him"

What can we do? Boycott the advertisers? You can't get on to talk because they don't want anyone who doesn't agree with them.

I also think people should start NOW sending out emails with some truth to them. The Repubs started LONG ago sending out absurd things like, "remind the young people how one of the Kennedy cousins was "credibly accused of rape". I guess I am fortunate that I got some of these from my mother and a couple other people and copied all the names on the forwards. I've sent around several things I picked up here and one of them actually came back to me! So people ARE sending them around.

4. your printer 4 flyers w/ URL of AAR
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 07:13 AM by oscar111
add AAR to your will.

the url for fliers is

http://www.airamericaradio.com

they can listen ONLINE! In your godforsaken area, even!
Hot diggity dog!

add also the url for existing site of Gore's upcoming tv cable channel, .. the shows will begin next year, O5. The existing now site is

http://www.indtv.tv i think

NOTE: not indy, but ind with no Y.
NOTE: the ending is a peculiar ".tv", not the usu .com.

take out classified ad, with the url's for both.

urge AFLCIO, DNC TO subsidize AAR.
Both dont realize it, but they now desperately need AAR to just survive. If the leader of either had any sense, we would have had AAR in every state since 1920.

And no Hoover, no Great Depression, no Vietnam war, no Nixon, no Reagan, no bush jr. We would now have jobs for all, prosperity and President Kucinich.

We would look like Canada, not Mexico.

Know of any list of Rush sponsors, for the boycott you mentioned?

11. Thank you!
Support the liberal media to a fault. If you can't stand Randi or Al, keep it streaming and turn it down. Buy from the advertisers. Continue to boycott the ones who are avid supporters of conservative radio. Tell people about it! Even the rightwingers...they love to listen to and hate lib radio. And btw, DONT listen/support to conservative crappy radio. It's not good for children or other living things.

2. We have the same situation here in QC of Iowa and Illinois
only two companies own all of the commercial radio stations around here(yep, Clear Channel and Cumulus) and AM talk absolutely sucks. On the Clear Channel station, there is a local guy who isn't too bad, Dr. Laura, limbaugh, another local guy who is as right wing as they come, hannity, reagan, and quite frankly, I'm not sure what they have for overnight stuff. On the Cumulus station they have Bill Bennett, yes, mr. morality himself, some guy named Gallagher, O'lielly, and Savage is in there somewhere, as well as Neil Boortz. I have called station managers and gotten nowhere. So maybe emailing is the way to at least start. Not sure if an all-out boycott would really work, as there are a lot of products advertised that people use frequently. Letting advertisers know that they are on right wing crap shows may help, although my efforts have not been successful to date. Listen to AAR and any liberal hosts you can to boost the ratings.

5. Bluzz.. advitizers know they are on RW.
know they are on RW radio.

I'M sure they already know that. Also, rest assured that people can chose to avoid sponsors.. there are several makers of most any everyday item you can name.

Like your spirit, and admire your energy. Keep at it!

3. Well, one thing I have heard said is that mixed formats is a money pit.
A station that does right-wing garbage and tries to toss in a liberal show is wasting it's time in most markets.

Either the format has to be extremely tilted to one side or the other it seems.

8. you mean fox's abuse... SHUT UP ,SHUT UP!
I wrote a blog on this.. and a rant about "new media'aka foxnews..

for the last 2 decades conserative radio has ruled. I swear it's until I am blue in my face that * has fox to thank his win.

In western PA I get NPR.. but i'm sorry npr is about as liberal as an old woman showing off an ankle. People are too afriad of the lable "liberal". Am is donated by them.. and 24hrs worth of devotion and brain washing.
Tv Included.

I wish Bill Maher pounded the airways with Franklin.
But there is too much control over broadcasting.

6. "Our" rich people have got to start doing what THEIR rich people did
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 07:29 AM by SoCalDem
BUY stations, but program according to liberal philosophy. It's much harder and more expensive now, though..Repubes did it when radio stations were relatively cheap..

The rightwing conservos have a firm grip on most of them, and are not that interested in selling them at any price. The plan is to not only OWN them all, but by owning them , they effectively shut us out of the market.. It's like voter suppression.. It's not enough to get their voters out, they MUST challenge and prevent our people from voting..

Propaganda works that way.. Total control of message..with NO opportunity for a dissenting voice..

It took them 30+ years to amass their "network" of newspapers, radio, tv, and they are in no hurry to sell any of it off..

What lots of people do not realize..MANY of these do NOT make a profit.. As long as the message gets out and is repeated and repeated and repeated..etc.. they have succeeded, whether or not they are raking in cash from selling Dr.Who-Ha's vitamin supplements , or the amazing, stupendous folding bed..

They get "paid" when the robots in listener-land crank out those faux-angry letters and get legislation passed or when a bunch of brainwashed idiots show up to harass the vice president, as they did to Gore during the "re-count".. That's their pay-off,and it's worth much more than cash.

7. Rush was a money looser for two years, and they subsidized that
we must get the AFLCIO and DNC to subsidize AAR.

Profit will be on election day, when sixty percent of the House and Senate become ours.\

Play along with the screeners about the topic being discussed.

Get on the air and give evidence against the neocons.

All day every day.
