State celebrates voting successes
Nov. 2 in the state of Florida should go down in history.
It was a day marked by record voter turnout, incredible excitement by citizens involved in the political process, and a smooth and accurate day of voting.
I cannot say enough about the extraordinary efforts of our 67 supervisors of elections and their professional staffs across the state, as well as the dedication of thousands of well-trained pollworkers.
Despite intense scrutiny, unfounded criticisms and a media onslaught, Florida's elections ran smoothly.
Our success is the result of countless hours of hard work and the many reforms put in place by our governor and our Legislature since 2000.

An unprecedented, non-partisan partnership between the state's division of elections, local supervisors of election and a diverse third-party coalition played a key role in a statewide voter education campaign to heighten voter awareness and confidence in Florida's election process.
