Well at least Pelosi is showing a little backbone about Delay issue
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/041117/dcw057_1.html

"Republicans have reached a new low. It is absolutely mind-boggling that as their first order of business following the elections, House Republicans have lowered the ethical standards for their leaders. To change their own rules to allow someone indicted for a felony to serve as a top Republican leader is completely unacceptable.

"Clearly, the Republicans do not care about the integrity of their party or the poor example they set for the nation. Their action today demeans the work of all ethical, law-abiding public servants."

What I find so funny is this rule was initially established as a dig at Democrats. The repubs were supposed to be showing how they hold themselves to higher standards.

Yea right!

4. Tell me exactlhy what the Demos can do
in the House to stop this? Please explain this one... last time I checked all they have left is.... talk... for power is a fleeting thing, and that they don't have

So HOPE that her words are picked up by the MSM... hmm maybe you SHOULD write a letter to your local paper and make the same points

She just gave you the talking ponits

You think the RW didn't do it? FOR THIRTY FREAKING YEARS until they have this incredible hold on power.

You can start FOLLOWING her example and use a moral stance to START chipping away... chip, chip, chip

7. Hey, I didn't say I had the answers ...
THEY'RE supposed to be the leadership.
I just wish they'd do more than pay lip-service to their indignation once in awhile.

Lighten up, sheesh ! :eyes:

Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 08:40 PM by nadinbrzezinski
WRITE LETTERS, we will not start swayng people UNLESS we get her into a public forum, and ABC nightly WILL NOT CARRY IT. THis is part of the problem....

Use the LTTE I wrote and just POSTED as an example.

Oh and one more thing, THEY cannot do it alone...

They need OUR help...

And they may be the leadership, but YOU can also be a leader

12. Ok let me reach for the historians hat
leaders will emege, as the revolution builds upon

Some are already in place (Pelosi is a fighter), but most will emerge as people turn for their leaders

It may be yuo, it may be me, Bev Harris IS a leader, and like Cesar Chavez outside of DU, HOW MANY PEOPLE have heard her name

What is amazing is people scream for these people to do someting, SHE CAN'T, beyond using words, we are the minority party

So that is when she needs you and me to do things

Now you also hneed to think of creative things to do at the local level

Boycots, marches, writi9ng letters to the paper, not doing Chirstmas (or doing it iin the true spirit of the season aka no gifts)

But SCREAMIGN at these people will not help one iota, or demanding action. Right now she is doing exactly what she can within the system and poltiical realities. You want to truly help, lets prove the BBV fraud, and DEMAND paper ballots.

5. She Can't Do Jack About It. House Democrats Are Utterly Powerless
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 08:24 PM by AndyTiedye
There isn't any filibuster in the House, and Democrats are cut out of
all deliberations now. There is no compromise. Republicans present
their non-negotiable finished product to each committee for a party-line
vote that they always win, and that's it.

We still have enough votes to stop a Constitutional amendment, maybe.

8. LTTE to the San Diego Trib
I just fired

To the Editor,

So the 108th Congress comes back in its final lame duck session. And what is their first priority? Oh yes make sure Tom Delay will not loose his majority Leadership status when he is convicted. I did not write if he is convicted, but when he is convicted in Austin. I guess this election was about morals, the morals of thieves.

Minority leader Pelosi is correct, when she wrote "Clearly, the Republicans do not care about the integrity of their party or the poor example they set for the nation. Their action today demeans the work of all ethical, law-abiding public servants." Indeed, what an example we have been given. And to think that these standards were imposed by the no longer responsible party as an attack on the free living Democrats. Oh well, what is the famous saying? Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely?

10. those damn repubs keep breaking their contract with america...
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 08:46 PM by Minimus
Lets see how many we can scratch

http://www.house.gov/house/Contract/CONTRACT.html

...the beginning of a Congress that respects the values and shares the faith of the American family.

FIRST, require all laws that apply to the rest of the country also apply equally to the Congress;
SECOND, select a major, independent auditing firm to conduct a comprehensive audit of Congress for waste, fraud or abuse;
THIRD, cut the number of House committees, and cut committee staff by one-third;
FOURTH, limit the terms of all committee chairs;
FIFTH, ban the casting of proxy votes in committee;
SIXTH, require committee meetings to be open to the public;
SEVENTH, require a three-fifths majority vote to pass a tax increase;
EIGHTH, guarantee an honest accounting of our Federal Budget by implementing zero base-line budgeting.

Edited to pose the question:

Do you think Newt is upset?
