Downstate Illinois just as crooked as Chicago
Nixon's henchman were stuffing ballot boxes downstate in Peoria and Bloomington but there was no media down there to catch it.

I've read this an awful lot over the years. But never seen anything beyond that very basic allegation. I sure would like to have a name or two to throw out there when people toss around the Daly Machine.

2. Daley offered a recount to Nixon.

Nixon was thinking of asking for a recount in Cook County, and Daley said that would be no problem, provided the Democrats could have a recount in the other 101 counties. Nixon declined a recount.
