Reid has already backed an anti-choice, torture proponent for his own circuit (the 9th) and an anti-choice, anti-disability advocate for another circuit. Reid even backed Goss, who plans to use the CIA against us. Reid has too often voted against civil rights and civil liberties and against the liberal Democrats and didn't see the importance of a paper trail. If Reid becomes minority leader on Tuesday, the seating of the Ohio and Florida Bush electors is guraranteed. So is the confirmation on torture advocate Gonzales.

The only hope is the number 2 choice, Durbin who has one of the best histories of standing up against the Bush regime of anyone in Congress. It would be easier to convince Senators who are already considering Durbin for the number 2 role of switching him to the number 1 position than of convincing them to pick another liberal not under consideration. Therefore, on Monday (the day before the decision) we need to get everyone we know to call all the Democratic Senators and ask them to back Durbin for the number 1 position.

4. Can you also live with Porter Goss breathing down your throat?

We have him curtesy of Reid. Durbin opposed him. CA has Arnold, thanks in part to a 9th Circ decision - a court where Reid worked hard to get right-wing extremist Jay Bybee a seat, where he could decide California election issues. The 9th Circuit then okayed the timing of the recall, even though it violated the equal protection clause (something Bybee doesn't believe in.) The decision will determine whether the Democrats rubber stamp Bush's bills and people or whether there is any actual opposition. Reid has proven we can't trust him.
