Anyone watch frontline last night?
The persuaders, it was a very interesting look at the marketing methods used by people trying to get a product out, and by politicians trying to get their message out.

The French psychologist Rappale? sp. talked of needing to find the reptilian center of the brain to move people. He said that for people driving suvs that the reptilian word was dominance.

I'm sure that kkkarl has found the reptilian control center got the born agains, and pushed it hard and steady up to the election.

Maybe, we need to find the reptilian center to fire up those directly opposite the talibornagain legions to get them out in 06.

1. Really great show
Reptilian hot buttons...spot on.

Having been in advertising for a while, seeing how branding works in a political sense was fun to watch. Fun, as in exposing the hard facts about how we are manipulated.

2. Prometheus Rising
I read it over the latter half of summer and the discussions about the various levels of 'consciousness' struck home.

Indeed, KKKarl and the Thuglicans are playing to the baser instincts of the population.

Fear
Dominance
Territoriality

also, i just saw this movie called "what the bleep do you know" at it was very interesting. http://www.whatthebleep.com/

......i tend to get excited when i see someone mention Prometheus Rising, that book did a number on me, kind of like it put all the things i kind of already thought into a more organised outline. blah blah blah...

7. good stuff, as is Klein's No Logos
She really got to the meat of the subject there as well.

I started watching this, but seeing that knowing that Bush is still president, I had to turn it off.

3. It was interesting that
I think I'm recalling this corrctly, but, I seem to remember his saying that it was harder to find the reptilian hotspot for a thinking person.

4. If you want to use those techniques, you wannna target those susceptible.
Edited on Wed Nov-10-04 03:06 PM by Opposite Reaction
The thinking folks will come over in time.

The less thoughtful, that are easily spoken to by trigger words and emotions, should be targeted aggressively. Even if you can't win over a large number of them, you must at least try to confuse them into ambivalence.

Fat and on the couch on voting day is a better outcome than them voting mindlessly for the next batch of repugs.

{EDIT: Speelung}

6. I read that this includes the ridicule aspect of campaigning, too.
The article I read said that ridiculing the opponent activates the reptilian center such as calling the opponent a "flip-flopper" or "unfit for command", etc.

9. The Rethug leaders have a distinct advantage finding
the reptilian center in their constituency, since there isn't much else there besides that center.
